2018 Ford EcoSport Video Review

The subcompact SUV class is exploding, and one of its newest members is actually not so fresh. The 2018 Ford EcoSport has been on sale in Europe for years but is just now making its U.S. debut. First, its road manners need work. Its turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine has decent power, but lag is excessive. Its ride and handling are major drawbacks, too, with a lot of hop and shimmy over bumps and disconnected feeling steering.

Inside, space is tight in both back and front, and although the EcoSport has a nice, high seating position, visibility is compromised at the forward corners due to large front pillars. Outside is one of its most annoying features: the EcoSport’s side-swing tailgate, which is awkward to use.
