CARS.COM — Honda's go-fast Civic Type R is quick, but it's first model year went by quicker. The new-for-2017 variant of the Hondas hot hatch went on sale in limited numbers during the 2017 model year, and the automaker just announced a price increase for the 2018 version.

The 2018 Civic Type R is on sale now starting at $34,990, $215 higher than model-year 2017 cars; that price includes destination. Other versions of the Civic lineup also see modest price increases for 2018.
What do you get for the extra dollars? Nothing.
Honda says the Type R is unchanged for 2018. Power again comes from a 306-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder — the most powerful in the automaker's U.S. history. The Type R is offered exclusively as a four-door hatchback and available only in the well-equipped Touring trim level.
Honda also recently announced at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas that the Type R's engine is now available as a crate engine for purchase through Honda Performance Development's Honda Racing Line program. Honda says the K20C1 turbocharged crate engine will cost $6,519.87, excluding shipping cost.
