2018 Rogue Hybrid Has Higher Prices and More Features — If You Can Find One

2018 Nissan Rogue Hybrid

Nissan's Rogue Hybrid is reprised for the 2018 model year with higher prices, but it also adds standard equipment. What Rogue Hybrid, you say? Then you must not live in one of the "select markets" where it is offered, which for 2018 are in the Western and Mid-Atlantic areas of the U.S.

The hybrid, rolled out for 2017, is back for 2018 and on sale now at higher prices for both the SL and SV trim levels. The SV model starts at $380 more than the outgoing 2017.5 version, at $27,995 to start, with front-wheel drive and including a $975 destination charge. The next-higher SL model is up $820 to $33,355 to start, with front-wheel drive. Add $1,350 to either one for all-wheel drive.

The front-wheel-drive Rogue Hybrid SV starting price for 2018 remains, however, just a $1,000 premium over an equivalent and also-higher-priced 2018 gasoline Rogue, while the SL is a $1,200 premium. The hybrid does not offer a version of the regular Rogue's base S trim level.

As it did with the Rogue and Rogue Sport, Nissan has given the hybrid more standard safety and driver assistance technology. The SL trim level now has a standard front collision system with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, a lane departure warning and assist, and adaptive cruise control. The optional Premium Package for the SV now includes adaptive cruise control and memory setting for the driver's seat and mirrors.

The 2018 Rogue Hybrid also gets an updated multimedia system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto capabilities. And the SV gets a standard kick-to-open power liftgate (the SL already had it).

The Rogue Hybrid's 2.0-liter gasoline engine and 30-kilowatt electric motor combine for 176 net   horsepower and are EPA-rated at 33/35/34 mpg city/highway/combined with front-wheel drive. That compares with 170 hp and 26/33/29 mpg for the conventional Rogue.
