Jeep and Ram parent automaker Stellantis is issuing a recall for more than 456,200 of those brands’ vehicles over an issue with the trailer lights and trailer brakes.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-26 Jeep Wagoneer S and model-year 2026 Cherokee SUVs; and model-year 2025-26 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks. The trailer tow module in the affected vehicles may have been improperly designed, causing the trailer lights and trailer brakes to fail. Trailer brake lights and turn signals that fail to illuminate reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash. Failing trailer brakes also increase the risk of a crash.
As a fix, dealers will replace the trailer tow module for free. Stellantis will notify owners by March 24, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact the automaker at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 03D), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
