Large recalls from GM stretching across multiple brands have been rare in 2022, but the newest for faulty backup cameras affects both the Cadillac and GMC lines, specifically the XT5, XT6 and Acadia SUVs.

More than 95,200 model-year 2020-21 Cadillac XT5s and XT6s and GMC Acadias equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature are affected. The rearview camera coaxial cable connectors may have been crimped improperly, causing the rearview camera to fail or function intermittently. Reduced visibility from the failing camera view can increase the risk of a crash.

As a fix, dealers will replace the coaxial cables for free. Cadillac and GMC parent automaker GM will begin notifying owners Nov. 7, but those with further questions can call Cadillac at 800-458-8006, GMC at 800-462-8782 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
