Organized labor is one group the new Chrysler and Fiat alliance isn’t pleasing right now. The Teamsters union protested Fiat and new Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne’s speech last night at the Automotive News World Conference over the automaker’s decision to use non-union car transportation companies to deliver new vehicles to dealers.
A website presumably set up by the Teamsters called CarBuyersBeware.com shows some of the ways these other transportation services incorrectly secure new cars to delivery trucks.
While we are getting only one side of the story from the Teamsters and this other site, we can say the photos they use to illustrate their point look recent. However, just as many GM vehicles are shown improperly attached to trucks as Chrysler products.
We wanted to bring this to our readers’ attention because it does illustrate the possibility that vehicles sold as new may have hidden damage caused during transport.
