Dodge Challenger Wrong Car for Patriotic Commercial?

Consumer Reports flagged the George Washington-driven Dodge Challenger in a commercial commissioned for the World Cup match between the U.S. and England. The publication points out that the Challenger platform was designed alongside Mercedes-Benz and is assembled in Canada.

If those two stats weren’t enough to turn the tide of reason against the commercial, so is the fact that the V-8 Hemi engine in the SRT8s shown are built in Mexico. However, it’s good to know that the total content of the Challenger is 70% domestic. The Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro are both 60% domestic.

Cars.com’s annual American Made Index, which ranks the top domestically produced cars and trucks, will be released next week, so stay tuned.
