The Ford Bronco, an all-new SUV with removable doors and all manner of off-road equipment, is about to get even more extreme. Ford officials told reporters at Motor Bella, a Detroit-area festival affiliated with the North American International Auto Show, that the automaker will introduce a Raptor version of the resurrected nameplate in 2022.

A teaser video of the SUV you can watch below showed a portion of the headlights and grille, with the grille appearing to replace the Bronco’s all-caps “Bronco” emblem with an all-caps “Ford.” That would follow the grille treatment for the F-150 Raptor, a performance-focused version of Ford’s popular pickup truck. The F-150 Raptor offers a twin-turbo V-6, though a Raptor R is coming in 2022 with a V-8.

Other details weren’t immediately shared for the Bronco Raptor, but it will likely dish out more power than the SUV’s current top engine, a turbo 2.7-liter V-6 that’s good for 330 horsepower and 415 pounds-feet of torque. Should Ford shoehorn its workhorse twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 under the Bronco’s hood, the sky appears the limit, as that engine is capable of more than 400 horsepower and 500 pounds-feet of torque in other applications.

Stay tuned for more.
