The Wrangler is inarguably Jeep’s most recognizable product and the most central to the brand’s identity, but the Grand Cherokee is a close second, and it is more important to the brand’s bottom line, outselling the Wrangler by some 25%. So the Grand Cherokee getting a light nip and tuck and a new engine for 2026 is a big deal. Despite a significant increase in power and — particularly — torque, Jeep hasn’t raised prices on the SUV much from the 2025 model year.

Release Date and Pricing
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is on sale now. Full line pricing is as follows. Rear-wheel drive is standard on most trim levels, with four-wheel drive an additional $2,000; 4WD is standard on the Limited Reserve and Summit. Opting for the three-row Grand Cherokee L adds $2,000.

Trim Levels and Safety Features
The entry-level Grand Cherokee Laredo rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels and features LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors, and keyless entry and starting. Inside are cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system.
To that, the Laredo X adds a moonroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a power liftgate and remote start. Its cabin is upgraded with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging.
Jeep’s old 3.6-liter V-6 is standard on the Laredo and X, but a new turbocharged four-cylinder (detailed below) is standard in the Laredo Altitude trim and above. The Laredo Altitude also features revised front and rear bumpers, black 18-inch wheels and darkened exterior trim. Inside, the Altitude gains synthetic leather upholstery, satin-chrome trim, upgraded speakers and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation. The Limited rides on 20-inch wheels and includes a power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated second-row seats, ambient lighting and nine speakers.
Only available with 4WD, the Limited Reserve can be distinguished by its black 20-inch wheels, dual-pane panoramic moonroof and body-color lower-body trim. It also gets Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats and a power tilt/telescoping steering column.
At the top of the Grand Cherokee heap sits the Summit. It rides on a height-adjustable air suspension and 21-inch wheels and features an upgraded transfer case with low-range gearing, a limited-slip rear differential, hill descent control and a trailer-hitch receiver. A black roof sets it apart from lesser trims, and it also includes upgraded LED headlights and a hands-free power liftgate. Inside, the Summit gets Palermo leather upholstery, massaging front seats with additional adjustability, ventilated rear seats, rear-window sunshades, four-zone automatic climate control, upgraded ambient lighting, a front-passenger touchscreen and a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system.
Standard safety features on the 2026 Grand Cherokee include forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. The Altitude and above gain front cross-traffic alert and road-sign recognition, while the Limited and above get automatic high beams. The Reserve’s safety suite is upgraded with a 360-degree camera system with an off-road view and front and side parking sensors. The Summit adds automated parking and a driver-attention monitor.

Powertrain Specs and MPG
The Laredo and Laredo X are the only Grand Cherokees that still get the old V-6 for 2026. Displacing 3.6 liters, it generates 293 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet of torque. Backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, the V-6 returns 19/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined with either RWD or 4WD, according to Jeep (official EPA fuel economy ratings for 2026 are not yet available). Fuel economy for the three-row Grand Cherokee L is rated at 19/26/21 mpg with RWD and drops to 18/25/21 mpg with 4WD.
Standard in the Laredo Altitude on up, the new engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. With 324 hp and 332 pounds-feet of torque, it betters the V-6 by 31 hp and 72 pounds-feet. It, too, is teamed with an eight-speed automatic. The turbo four’s additional output comes with zero fuel-economy penalty as the engine returns an identical 19/26/22 mpg.
