Affected vehicles include model-year 2022-24 Tucsons equipped with an optional Mobis tow hitch wiring harness, which may have been installed incorrectly. As a result, water may enter the control module and cause the trailer lighting to fail or an electrical short circuit. Absent lighting increases the risk of a crash, and a short circuit increases the risk of a fire.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the repair has been performed. As a fix, dealers will replace the tow hitch wiring harness for free. Hyundai will notify owners Feb. 16, 2026, but those with further questions can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 290), or visit NHTSA’s website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
