In September, Ford announced that it would offer a 2-inch suspension lift kit for four-wheel-drive Rangers (and F-150s) through Ford Performance Parts. Now, the Blue Oval brand is teaming up with Australia-based ARB to offer a winch-ready steel front bumper that can be installed at the dealership and doesn't mess with the Ranger's optional safety features.

The bumper, like the lift kit, will cost $1,495 plus installation; unlike the lift kit, it can be installed on any Ranger. It can be attached using existing mounting points on the chassis and meets U.S. crashworthiness standards, something Ford says no other Ranger-specific, all-steel aftermarket bumper does.

Owners who bought a Ranger with Ford's Co-Pilot 360 system, adaptive cruise control or front parking sensors need not worry that this bumper will eliminate those features: All are designed to work even with the new bumper, even if a winch is installed. And installing that winch (not included in the $1,495 price) should be a cinch thanks to an integrated winch mount. The bumper also features additional mounting points and jacking points that will come in handy off the beaten path.

According to Ford, accessories compatible with the new bumper include:

  • Warn Industries-brand M8000, XD9000, 9.5XP, 9.5XDC and VR EVO 10-S winches
  • Rigid-brand SR-Series LED light bars, both 6-inch and 30-inch lengths
  • Antenna and sand flag mounts
  • Jacking points for off-road jacks

The new bumper will be available in 2020 and is covered by a limited warranty from Ford Performance Parts.
