Key Points

  • Porsche electric vehicles can use Tesla Superchargers.
  • Plug & Charge streamlines public charging.
  • Plug & Charge capability added to all Macan Electrics and 2026 Taycan, as well as upcoming 2026 Cayenne Electric

Porsche, along with every single other manufacturer of EVs, recently signed an agreement with Tesla giving its owners access to the American carmaker’s Superchargers. With more than 27,500 plugs nationwide, Tesla’s Supercharger network is the largest single DC fast-charging network in the U.S.

Now, Porsche is making it easier for its EV drivers to use those Superchargers by incorporating Plug & Charge functionality into its app. Plug & Charge does exactly what it says, allowing owners to pull up, plug in and immediately begin replenishing their car’s battery. That doesn’t sound like a big deal unless you’re an EV owner and understand the myriad headaches of the nation’s fragmented public charging infrastructure.

With many charging networks preferring payment through their individual apps, finding a charge in the wild often means shuffling through different apps to pay for juice. In a 2024 study, industry analysts J.D. Power found that simply initiating and paying for a charge through an app adds an average of seven minutes to a charging stop.

Porsche already incorporates Plug & Charge for the Electrify America network. This new development will streamline owners’ charging experience at the two largest public DC fast-charging providers in the country. The functionality can be enabled in all Porsche Macan Electrics and the 2026 Porsche Taycan, as well as the 2026 Cayenne Electric when it goes on sale later this year.
