The House in Washington state passed a bill that would exempt electric vehicles from the state sales tax. The bill, sponsored by Democrat Deb Eddy, passed easily by a vote of 71-23. The bill also applies to electric cars’ batteries and electric vehicle infrastructure.
A similar measure is receiving strong backing in Florida, although the Sunshine State’s version would also offer tax credits to businesses that use EVs. The bill sailed through the House and will wait on its companion bill in the Senate, sponsored by Republican Thad Altman.
