Luxury is about more than just how a car feels — it’s also about how it looks and how it’s seen.  There is nothing understated about the Escalade IQ three-row electric vehicle; it’s extra in all the right ways, from its bold, giant grille to its blingy 24-inch wheels.

Inside, the Escalade IQ plays the part of a truly premium and uniquely styled luxury vehicle; highlights include high-quality seat and surface materials and a dramatic 55-inch, curved two-piece display screen that spans the dash accompanied by a small touchscreen low on the center console that puts key controls within easy reach.

The luxury vibe extends through all three rows, but for some, the third row might feel a bit tight. However, Cadillac also offers the extended-length Escalade IQL version, which is 4.2 inches longer than the standard model, giving third-row passengers more legroom as well as a bit more headroom thanks to a flatter roofline.

And the Escalade IQ is not just a pretty face (or cabin) — it’s got impressive numbers to back it up. Chief among them is its estimated 465 miles of range — among the longest estimated driving range of any electric SUV on the market. And it’s achievable; in fact, our editors easily surpassed that range on a road trip. That’s thanks in part to its massive 205-kWh battery. Charge times are impressive, too: It can add up to 117 miles of range in about 10 minutes at a 350-kilowatt DC fast charger.

It all combines for smooth, silent, powerful operation. Dynamically, the Escalade IQ is excellent for a large SUV, with outstanding steering feel and feedback, a composed ride and sprightly acceleration with a robust 680 hp to start and up to 750 hp with Velocity Max mode.

But there’s nothing luxurious about driving a bus, and this definitely isn’t one. Despite its largess (and its name), the Escalade IQ is not based on the trucky, body-on-frame full-size Escalade. It’s smaller than its namesake, and its slick four-wheel-steering system means maneuverability is excellent — it handles like a much smaller SUV.

In both style and substance, the 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ shines, delivering a unique combination of bold luxury and quiet refinement, which is why it’s our Best Luxury Car of 2026.

2026 Genesis G90: Finalist

  • Starting price: $94,195
  • Estimated combined fuel economy: 20-21 mpg
  • Base powertrain: 375-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6; eight-speed automatic transmission; AWD

The Genesis G90 sedan is near the top of our Best Luxury Car list thanks to its all-around understated refinement. There’s nothing in-your-face about this sedan, and that’s part of the appeal. From its calm and confident twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 to its world-class cabin materials, it exudes quiet luxury.

On the outside, the G90’s knockout styling is both sensuous and stately, with impeccable details like a bold version of Genesis’s signature grille flanked by thin-strip headlights with micro-optic lenses.

Inside, high-end features are everywhere in the regally finished cabin: heated, ventilated and massaging front seats; a touchscreen control interface for rear passengers; power-closing doors; a cabin fragrance diffuser; and a Mood Curator system that programs elements such as cabin ambient lighting and the sound and fragrance systems.

Refinement carries over to its road manners thanks to a smooth 375-hp, twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 (a supercharged mild-hybrid version of the engine is good for 409 hp). Genesis knows the primary mission of a large luxury sedan is to coddle occupants with world-class quietness and comfort, and the G90 delivers on this front, too.

Alas, the sedan is no longer the relative bargain it once was — in fact, it’s the first Genesis to crack $100,000 — but we think the G90 is worth the money. In terms of all-around luxury presence, it stands tall against its class rivals while still undercutting them on price.

2026 Lexus LC 500: Finalist

  • Starting price: $101,700 (coupe), $109,200 (convertible)
  • Estimated combined fuel economy: 18 mpg
  • Base powertrain: 471-hp, 5.0-liter V-8; 10-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive

The Lexus LC 500 hasn’t changed much since it was introduced for the 2018 model year, and that’s a good thing. The dramatically styled coupe has captivated us since Day 1, and its allure is still going strong. A convertible joined the lineup for 2021, and its open-air elegance only strengthened the LC’s appeal. For 2026, the same evocative design, indulgent leather-lined interior and fabulous V-8 return, and the LC 500 returns to our Best Luxury Car list as a finalist yet again.

The LC 500 is one of the most exotic cars available for less than $200,000 from both an aesthetic and mechanical perspective. Beyond rich materials like supple leather and real metal trim, the interior is a work of art with sharp lines and flowing surfaces that represents a significant departure from other Lexus cabins. The refinement continues under the hood, too, thanks to a powerful 471-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 engine paired with a dreamy-smooth 10-speed automatic transmission.

The LC 500 has always been one of the most impressive grand tourers on the market, but Lexus’ decision to replace the awful touchpad infotainment interface with a traditional touchscreen for the 2024 model year elevated the LC from great to exceptional. Overall, the LC’s gorgeous styling, meticulously crafted cabin and glorious V-8 combine to make it a finalist for our Best Luxury Car of 2026 award.
