Illinois-based Endurance seeks to provide extended warranties for vehicles across the nation. As one of the nation’s largest providers of extended warranty coverage, Endurance has paid over $300 million in claims since its founding in 2006. It offers different levels of protection to meet people’s budgetary and coverage needs.
Warranties, insurance and other protection plans can help you prepare for life’s unexpected events. Because vehicles are one of the most significant expenditures for most Americans — and make up for one of the largest monthly payments — it’s a good idea to ensure you’re protected in the event of an unexpected malfunction. Without coverage like an extended car warranty, you could have to pay out of pocket for damage and repairs.
Read on to learn more about Endurance’s offerings and to determine if its warranties are worth it in your situation

Is Endurance Worth the Cost?
In the crowded extended vehicle warranty space, Endurance stands out thanks to its 24/7 roadside assistance and diverse repair options. In some cases, warranties such as these provide peace of mind that can’t be quantified as actual dollars and cents.
With multiple coverage options to meet most budgets, unlimited mileage coverage, direct management of most claims, optional add-on coverage and generally positive online feedback, Endurance could provide good value depending on the status of your vehicle and your financial situation.
Endurance Warranty Coverage
Endurance’s top-tier package offers some of the most comprehensive warranty coverages on the market, and its value option still provides solid coverage. With three tiers to choose from, you can select the right coverage for your needs. Here’s what Endurance covers in all of its package levels:
- Vehicles up to 20 years old with unlimited mileage for some plans
- Air conditioning
- Brakes
- Axle
- Electrical systems
- Engine
- Hybrid coverage
- Steering
- Transfer case
- Transmission
- Supercharger/turbocharger
- 24/7 roadside assistance
- Rental car benefits
Endurance’s higher-tier options are more expensive and cover these additional components:
- Cooling systems
- Suspension
- Fuel system
- Gaskets
What does Endurance not cover?
Endurance offers some of the most comprehensive coverage in the vehicle warranty space, but as is the case with any insurance plan, there are a few key exclusions. Most of these exclusions are standard throughout the industry and include the following:
- Damage resulting from collisions
- Normal maintenance items
- Loss caused by negligence
- Preexisting conditions
- Theft and vandalism
- Environmental damage
- Tire replacement and repair
Endurance offers Elite Benefits that are available to any of its customers for a small annual activation fee. The service is free for one year with every vehicle protection plan. Up to $500 in collision discounts, key fob replacement, up to $500 towards windshield repair, up to $1,000 in total loss replacement and tire replacement or repair are all covered in the Elite Benefits add-on.
Endurance Car Warranty Plans
Endurance offers multiple car warranty plans, so you can find coverage that fits your specific needs. The company provides its three tiers of vehicle protection plans for most of the country, including coverage tailored to meet California’s unique mechanical breakdown insurance requirements.
Endurance administers most of its own claims, and claims approval is typically completed within 48 hours. Each Endurance plan also includes 24/7 roadside assistance plus rental car assistance at no additional cost.
These are Endurance’s three packages:
- Secure Plus: Endurance’s base-level plan still covers a lot and is a great choice if you have an older vehicle or want peace of mind concerning the more expensive parts of a vehicle. Coverage extends to major systems like air conditioning, brakes, the engine, steering and the transmission.
- Superior: Endurance’s mid-level package offers additional coverage compared to the Secure Plus package, extending protections to include the vehicle’s cooling, suspension and fuel systems.
- Supreme: Endurance’s top-tier package is one of the most robust on the market, covering nearly every system on your vehicle. This policy includes additional coverage for technical items like gaskets and seals beyond the components found on the Superior package.
Endurance also offers three tiers of mechanical breakdown insurance for California residents, which are organized in a similar “good, better, best” setup: Standard, Premium and Elite Plus plans. Coverage varies slightly to fit with the Golden State’s unique insurance requirements. California residents can also choose unique add-ons to customize their coverage further.

Endurance mileage limits
Most companies put a maximum mileage on cars that qualify for extended warranty coverage. If you have a high-mileage vehicle and are considering Endurance, you’re in luck — there’s no maximum mileage restriction on coverage options. That said, vehicles must be less than 20 years old to qualify for coverage through Endurance.
Endurance may be a good option if you have an older vehicle, but it’s not the only option. Consider the best used car warranty companies for a list of providers that may meet your needs.
Endurance waiting period
Almost all extended warranty companies impose waiting periods, and Endurance is no exception. Typically, 30 days must pass after signing your contract, and you must put 1,000 miles on the vehicle before the warranty takes effect. The exact waiting period requirements will be detailed on the application page of your vehicle service contract.
This waiting period gives you a chance to cancel the policy if needed. However, it’s mainly in place so the warranty provider can ensure the vehicle has no existing conditions that will have to be covered under the warranty.
Endurance claims process
The Endurance claims process is unique in the industry and comparatively more convenient for customers. The process starts by visiting the RepairPal Partner Network to find a local certified car mechanic. From there, the shop will obtain authorization from Endurance to perform an estimate, which the warranty provider’s underwriting team will review with you before work begins. If approved, you’ll pay the deductible, and the shop will begin work on the vehicle.
Endurance customer satisfaction
Overall, Endurance boasts a rating of 4 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot, with more than 11,000 total reviews. Most drivers who reviewed their Endurance warranties left positive reviews, discussing the great service they received on the phone and how easy it is to connect with customer service.
Negative responses mainly came from drivers who found it difficult to cancel their warranties. Some drivers claimed that when they attempted to cancel their policies, Endurance representatives made it time-consuming.
Endurance customer service
Endurance has phone lines for both new and existing customers, plus a dedicated line for claims from repair facilities. The reviews for Endurance’s customer service team are generally positive.

Endurance Alternatives

- CarShield: CarShield offers more coverage plans than Endurance, with eight policy options available. While CarShield does have a mileage cap of 225,000 miles, it also extends coverage to motorcycles and ATVs.
- American Dream Auto: American Dream Auto also offers three coverage plans for its customers to choose from. It is known to cover those who own farm vehicles and ride-share autos.
- Carchex: Carchex can be a stronger warranty option if you’re looking for short-term coverage, as it’s one of only a few car warranty providers to offer payment plans. Carchex offers five plan tiers, with trip interruption, rental car and roadside assistance included with plan benefits.

Endurance Extended Car Warranty FAQ
Is Endurance a good car warranty?
When you consider the number of systems covered, the value for the money and additional options, Endurance provides a good option if you want an extended warranty for your vehicle. However, as with all warranty providers, the specific benefits you gain may vary in value depending on your vehicle.
Does Endurance Warranty require a vehicle inspection?
Endurance Warranty does not require a vehicle inspection to activate coverage. Instead, eligibility is determined based on your vehicle’s age, mileage and condition. However, it is essential to provide accurate details during the application process, so Endurance recommends getting an inspection before choosing a plan. Always review the terms of your contract to ensure you meet all requirements for coverage.
Does Endurance Warranty provide roadside assistance?
Endurance Warranty provides roadside assistance as part of its coverage plans. This service typically includes towing, flat tire changes, battery service, fuel delivery and lockout assistance. The exact offerings may vary depending on your specific plan, so review your policy details to understand the full range of services included.
Does Endurance Warranty offer rental car reimbursement?
Endurance Warranty offers rental car reimbursement in all of its plans. This benefit helps cover the costs of a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired for a covered issue. There is a $30 daily maximum and an overall maximum of $150 per breakdown.
How do you file a claim with Endurance?
To file a claim with Endurance, contact its customer service department and provide your contract details. Ensure your repair facility is authorized, then have the mechanic diagnose the issue and submit a claim for approval. Once approved, Endurance will cover the repair costs per your plan terms. Review your contract for detailed claim procedures.
Does Endurance deny claims?
Like any insurance or warranty company, Endurance denies claims that don’t fit within your agreed-upon terms of coverage. As long as you’re aware of the items covered in your warranty — and coverage exclusions — there shouldn’t be any surprises when filing a claim.
Does Endurance Warranty cover accidents?
Collisions are listed in Endurance’s exclusions list, so accidents generally are not covered in its extended warranties. That said, Endurance offers an Elite Benefits add-on free for the first year and then for a small activation fee every year thereafter. Benefits feature up to $500 in discounts per accident when repairing damage from collisions.
Can you cancel an Endurance warranty?
You can cancel an Endurance warranty after you purchase a plan. All protection plans and vehicle service contracts come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Contact Endurance’s customer experience team to initiate the cancellation process. If you’re within the 30-day period and haven’t used your plan, Endurance will cancel your contract and refund your payment.
If you’re outside the 30-day window, you must notify Endurance in writing and submit a cancellation request. You’ll receive a prorated refund after Endurance deducts an administrative fee and the total cost of approved claims.
Is the Endurance extended warranty worth it?
The Endurance extended warranty can be worth it for drivers seeking peace of mind and protection against costly repairs. With comprehensive coverage options and positive customer feedback, it offers value, particularly if you’re prone to unexpected mechanical issues. However, you should assess your vehicle’s reliability, your budget and available alternatives to determine if it’s the right choice.
