Cars.com is seeking a tech driven Architect who has the requisite experience to lead full stack application architectures through delivery. Our organization will look to you to bring latest thought leadership to the table when it comes to frictionless partner integration, fast data pipelines and engaging consumer experiences. Both on-prem and cloud-native solutions are in play.

Responsibilities

  • Be at the forefront of proposing innovative technology solutions relevant to car shopper and partner ecosystem.
  •  

  • Lead integration architectures for internal and external systems.
  •  

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our products and deliver practical architectural blueprints for desired features which account for real on-the-ground constraints.
  •  

  • Explore innovative technologies to enhance business outcomes
  •  

  • Build strong cross-organizational collaborative relationships such as with product, UX, devops, site reliability, architecture and data teams.
  •  

  • Provide thought leadership and foster a culture of innovation.
  •  

  • Contribute towards technology hackathons, product selection, technology adoption and prototypical implementations.
  •  

  • Stay current with technology trends.
  •

Required Skills

 

 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field/equivalent experience.
  •  

  • You are well versed in relative suitability of two or more technology stacks for various problem domains, standard design patterns and their practical applications, how the web works under the hood, and robust data pipelines. 
  •  

  • You are skilled in non-functional aspects such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, operating at scale, resiliency, performance, maintainability.
  •  

  • You keep up with industry trends, enjoy teaching yourself new technology, and enjoy talking about different technical problems and their solutions.
  •  

  • You enjoy proving out concepts and communicating their results.
  •  

  • You can prepare efficient technical documentation and diagram key concepts for communicating solutions to other technologists.
  •  

  • You have excellent leadership and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  •  

  • You have the courage to debate with colleagues and drive out the best solution for the organization, not just your solution.
  •  

  • You enjoy mentoring junior technologists and fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  •  

 

 

Required Experience

 

  • 5+ years of information systems experience with increasing responsibilities in development, design and architecture.
  •  

  • Recent architecture experience in systems integration and data pipelines for high traffic consumer facing sites, regardless of the language or platform.
  •  

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess the pros and cons of a solution and communicate those strengths and weaknesses succinctly and confidently
  •  

  • Experience delivering in an agile environment
  •
