By far the worst experience I have ever had. My wife’s family has been coming here for years. In total we have probably leased/purchased 7 vehicles from... them over the years and never had an issue. The salesmen are friendly and if you watch their ads they usually can’t be beat, but this time will be our last at Mel Rapton. The constant lying by finance staff and management has been ridiculous. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have tried to reach Mike Lozano, the general sales manager, and been blown off. He has sent me to voicemail and never returns my calls despite leaving voicemails. My father in law had to go into to speak with him on two occasions because I am out of the state and Mike wouldn’t return my calls. It has been the least professional encounter I have had in this setting.... and that should say something for the auto industry. Terry, our finance guy at Honda, was swearing at us and harassed us with phone calls/texts/and emails during all hours of the day despite being told we would get him the requested information by a certain time, which we did. We traded in a vehicle that was leased with VW, don’t get me started there... and the Mel Rapton screwed us on the payoff price. We have our lease stating the amount owed and got verbal confirmation from VW that we owed a specific amount. 3 days after leasing the vehicle we receive a call stating we have the rest of the week to pay an additional $850 or be taken to collections. My wife is 8 months pregnant, we signed an agreement and provided proof of the payoff. They claim it’s VWs fault, but made no effort prior to signing to inform us that VW charges additional fees to have another dealer payoff your vehicle. They knew about this issue and neglected to inform us of this. Terry told us after he threatened to take us to collections that this is a long standing issue and they deal with VW and GM frequently. If this were the case they should have disclosed this prior to signing. I could go on... STAY AWAY! Their deals might beat others at first but they will screw you in the end. Your best bet is to go elsewhere. Use their add to get another dealer to price match because they will.
Andrew, We are sorry your experience was not up to the high standards we hope all of our customers receive. It is not uncommon for payoffs on vehicl...es to be either overstated or understated by lenders. Some lenders even quote the customer a different figure than they quote dealers. That is why the contract is clear about what the law is regarding such situations. If the payoff was lower than stated you would have rightfully wanted the $850 that was owed to you. Because we had to pay the previous lender $850 more than they quoted us, it is only right that we not have to absorb such a large amount. You stated your family has purchased several cars with us, which translates into aggressive discounts, and in this case that difference would have resulted in a substantial loss. It does us no good to have a customer leave unhappy, but sometimes we need to make a business decision and it happens, which is unfortunate. We wish you many years of enjoyable driving in your new Honda.
After talking to a Sales Rep for almost a week I took the afternoon off to go make my purchase. The Rep I had been talking to had to leave so I was given... a different Sales Rep. We went for a test drive, looked the vehicle over and he walked away to start the paperwork then came back and said the vehicle just got sold to another person. How does this happen????? Why wasn't the vehicle held for me to make the purchase since I was in the middle of doing so?? They gave me a full tank of gas for my troubles but it was a very horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend this dealership due to the tactics these people were trying to do with who gave the highest bid.
I just bought a Honda CRV from here. I got great deal on price, ext. warranty and APR. They all were very kind and helpful. The whole process was simple... and quick.
Since we bought our Odyssey in 2008 we have always had great service here. Even after over 60,000 mile on my van I feel good coming here. Everyone is so... friendly and the store is beautiful. My brother , sister and neighbor all cars from here.
***IF I could give Mel Rapton ZERO stars I would*** Recently I decided to purchase a new Honda. As a birthday gift, my father generously offered to buy... the vehicle for me. We decided to purchase the vehicle at Mel Rapton Honda where I've purchased a car before and my family has purchased many Hondas over the years. Since my father currently lives out of state, he negotiated a deal for my Honda with the Internet Manager, Chris R.. They confirmed the price via email and he told Chris he would send me a personal check made out to Mel Rapton Honda and I would bring that in at the time of pick up. (This was a week and a half before pickup.) When I arrived to pick the vehicle up, I was advised by a Junior R. that they would not take the check, even after I showed them Chris R.'s email. The manager I dealt with, Roger, was extremely rude and his behavior exacerbated an already upsetting situation. Mel Rapton Honda not only reneged on their word (which was in writing in an email) but they were discourteous, defensive and made what should have been a quick and easy pick up of the car an absolute nightmare. Never once did they take responsibility for THEIR error or try and right the situation. I sent a letter the next day to the dealership's VP of Operations (Curtis Rapton) and General Manager (Katina Rapton) and have heard nothing back. The fact that they don't back up their written agreements is deceptive and quite fraudulent in my opinion. Their tagline of "We Really Want your Business," is ridiculous. What they want is your MONEY. Don't expect any kind of good customer service at Mel Rapton Honda and definitely don't expect them to keep their word on anything, even if it's in writing. They obviously negotiate in bad faith.
I first bought a civic hatchback from this dealership in 1992. I bought a 2002 civic coupe & in 2010 another civic coupe. On several occasions Mel Rapton... repaired my cars in the body shop.All my service has been done here. I wouldn't take my cars anywhere else. Every Dept. of this dealership has served me professionally with care & courtesy. Mel Rapton gets my highest recommendation.
