Found truck in cars.

Found truck in cars.com. Had to put down a deposit of $1000 (NON REFUNDABLE) to hold it for 3 hours till my family could get there. Got there and my wife and son picked it up after my wife paid for it. I didn’t drive it, my fault. I could not have held it without $1000 (NON REFUNDABLE) deposit till I got off work to drive it. Had she changed her mind upon arrival, the deposit of $1000.00 was NON REFUNDABLE. Truck was fine except for 1 little problem dealership failed to mention. It has a transmission shudder between 35-45 miles per hour under slow acceleration, so I will probably wind up needing a new transmission. Now the truck is a 2006 Toyota tundra with only 80,000 miles, but it had a 1 7/8 and a 2 3/4 hitch ball on the back, so whatever was pulled was probably the transmission culprit. Needless to say, the integrity of the dealership comes into question even though everyone was nice overall. So, buyer beware when getting a used vehicle at Shapen Toyota. What adds to the bad taste is that the car fax showed all the maintenance was performed at dealer, so I find it hard to believe that the transmission problem never came up. Anyway, buyer beware!

Easy, honest dealership to deal with.

Easy, honest dealership to deal with. No hassle, no back and forth! Kathy was an absolute pleasure to work with! At the end, there were no surprises or gotchas, just the deal agreed upon--refreshing these days for sure!

Very customer friendly. Quick response to internet inquiry. Wendy was above and beyond helpful. Even got to meet owner of dealership. Made buying a vehicle a pleasant experience. The actual transaction also very easy and efficient.

Shapen Toyota is Awesome, Amazing and Wonderful!

Shapen Toyota is Awesome, Amazing and Wonderful! My 2013 Honda Ridgeline was totaled due to flooding and water damage. I live in New Orleans LA. I found a 2013 Honda Ridgeline with only 31,000 miles on it at Shapen Toyota in Marshall TX. Tyler, Kyle and Wendy not only met, but far exceeded my customer service expectations. They made my long distance truck purchase seamless! Love Love Love Shapen Toyota :-) seth

Great service after the sale.

Great service after the sale. Bought new Toyota from these guys since they bought the store in 2018. Mr. Tucker (the manager) works closely with me every time. Would'nt buy a car anywhere else. Dave Johnson

Shapen Pledge - know it…

I met the owner, to the 2 detractors who complained about price and rate I submit to you that you were both the kind of buyers dealerships love. I’ve not bought a single vehicle in 30+ years without having financing already approved, that puts you in a better negotiating position. Saying they won’t negotiate is ludicrous! By virtue of their business all dealerships negotiate. If the person who was going to pay the vehicle off in 2 weeks why do you even care? As I mentioned I met the owner, a genuine pleasure to make his acquaintance and I do not believe he’d engage or support questionable business practices - if he owned a Ford Dealership I’d not hesitate to buy my next truck from him! Being caught off guard by price and/or financing is on you - just sayin’. Retired Air Force Colonel

PLEASE read and share.

PLEASE read and share. I'm posting this to warn anyone that may be looking to do business with Shapen Toyota in Marshall, TX. I will tell just a small portion of what happened in the hopes that everyone will read it entirely and share with everyone you can. My wife and I just recently purchased a car there. I did the app over the phone and was contacted and told to come pickup the car, that I was approved. I was also told by the salesman that he didn't know the rate or who it was through but they got it done. I got to the dealership and asked the finance manager these questions. I went in knowing my credit score and being very comfortable that I could use any bank in the country. The finance manager told me my score was 60 points lower than what I knew it to be. I showed him 2 FICO scores confirming what it was. We had a lengthy discussion about why my rate was high and I was told specifically that I still had tier 1 credit and rates were up and this rate was the best he could get me. I signed the deal knowing I was going to pay off the car within the next week anyways. Coincidentally, I already do business with the bank that carried my note on the car. I went in and started asking questions and found out they approved a rate (the lowest they offer) that was 2 points lower than what I was told at the dealership. The bank management was confused by this to the point they contacted the owner of Shapen Toyota themselves right then. I also called the dealership and discussed these findings with the finance manager and the owner and was openly lied to by the finance manager throughout the entire process. He admitted this to me and the owner. He bumped the rate to make the dealership more money from the bank. I was also asked to keep this information a secret from my bank. The owner told me this is common practice for them and the only issue he had was that the finance manager wasn't upfront with us about the plan and that I could've even received a kick back if I was part of the plan, knowing the car was going to be paid off soon. Again, this is just a small portion of the lies and unethical business practices I unfortunately became a part of at Shapen Toyota in Marshall, TX. Please be aware and share this with anyone you consider a friend.

Advertised price not the price.

Advertised prices are not the prices they are asking. Looking for a specific car. They had a “good deal” with exactly what we were looking for. Sent a request and they responded promptly. We were then told the price listed is only the msrp and the asking price is thousands of dollars higher. Double checked their website and they do not have this higher price listed there either. Would just like to see honestly on their posts. They will not negotiate.
