I’m not typically one to write reviews, but my experience

I’m not typically one to write reviews, but my experience with CarMax has been so outstanding that I feel compelled to share. From start to finish, they’ve redefined my expectations for buying a vehicle. I found a car online that checked every box for me—low miles, all the specs I wanted, and fantastic photos that gave me confidence in its condition. The only catch? It was located at a CarMax dealership in Florida, while I’m in Nashville. For just $200, they shipped it to my local CarMax dealership. Knowing the worst-case scenario was losing that $200, I felt reassured to take the leap—and I’m so glad I did. Within just a few days, the car arrived. I had a trade-in—a mid-mileage VW Atlas in good condition—and to my surprise, CarMax offered me an amazing price. I’ve done my research, and they gave me a value that was very close to what I’d seen comparable models selling for, and significantly more than I owed. Needless to say, I accepted their offer with ease. As for my new (used) car, I was impressed by the comprehensive warranty options. The extended warranty they offer feels like an insurance policy: $200 deductible for coverage up to 150,000 miles. With my car’s mileage at around 50,000, this was a no-brainer. I’ve seen glowing reviews about the warranty online, and after my own experience, I can see why. Now here’s the part that truly sets CarMax apart—the post-purchase experience. The vehicle is used, so it’s impossible to catch every little thing during a quick test drive. Thankfully, CarMax provides a 90-day warranty and has a full-service garage. I’ve been back a few times for small fixes, like the gas door not working properly, tire monitor sensors, an alignment issue, and even replacing a rear entertainment system screen. Every single issue was handled promptly and professionally, leaving me with a car that feels brand new. Shoutout to Elvis in the service department! Not only did he remember my name when I returned, but he also ensured I had a free loaner car anytime my vehicle needed to stay overnight. The customer service I’ve received from him and the entire CarMax team has been nothing short of exceptional. This entire process has been so seamless that I can confidently say CarMax will be my first stop the next time I’m in the market for a car. I’ve purchased brand-new vehicles before and never felt this satisfied. CarMax has raised the bar for what car buying and ownership should feel like. If you’re on the fence about where to purchase your next vehicle, I can’t recommend CarMax enough. From great trade-in offers to their stellar warranty program and impeccable customer service, they’ve won me over as a fan for life. Here’s hoping they stay around for a long, long time—because this is how car buying should be done.

Trying

Had a great experience with the facility and with the vehicles. Customer service was lacking in a way that I hadn't experienced before. I purchased other vehicles here before but never been that with so much apathy. I don't know if she was trying to go home early or what but the lady that helped me seemed to want nothing to do with my purchase. It's the only reason I decided not to buy.

Be Sure to Ask Questions

Love our new car, but wasn’t told the CD player didn’t work .( info was not listed anywhere ) After purchasing the car we contacted them and were told they would not fix it. So my advice is shop there, but check everything carefully and ask questions.

Great experience

Kasie Estevez (dealer @carmax) is a godsend. She took everything into consideration. the longevity of the car, the service costs, the insurance and just about everything else you can think of. I came in with a car picked out and money in hand, ready to buy. Easy commission for anyone, but instead she looked out for me and helped me find a better, more reliable, and cheaper car. 10/10

Did carmax really replace my rotors and breaks?

I purchased a Toyota rave 4 from carmax on 7/19/2019. I immediately started hearing grinding from the rear rotor once I got it home. But you would only hear it when driving in reverse. I called and set up an appointment on 8/20/2019. Came in and Jo was great. Jo told me they would resurfaced each rotor. They even fixed the nail in my tire at no charge. Needless to say i was very impressed. I got my car home and noticed that the grinding noise was still there. It wasn't as loud as before but you could clearly hear it when driving in reverse. I called again and set up another appointment. This appointment was on 09/13/2019. Jo waited on me again. After waiting a few hours, I was told that they did not hear anything coming from the front breaks. Yet I wasn't there for the front breaks. I was there for the back rotors. Lol Instead of just telling me they made a mistake and checked the front he had me go back and sit down while he I assume went to figure out what to do.When he came back he told me he asked the mechanic what they could do about the noise and he decided to replace the back rotors and breaks. Again I was actually impressed. This is when it all goes wrong somewhere. Jo called and left a message that the rotors were in and wanted to set up the appointment on 09/19/2019 at 10:15. I arrived about 15 min early. And I was greeted by Jo. He said something about someone going on break so I guess they couldn't get to my car right away. Witch I didn't have a problem with. I decided I would walk to Metro diner and get breakfast to kill time. I was gone maybe an hour. I walked back to carmax. I probably sat there 15 to 30 minutes when jo's Co worker told me he would be out to see me once he finished with the customer he had. When he came he told me they had finished. Witch I thought was really fast for replacing the rear rotors and breaks witch is what jo told me was gong to happen. They guy starts telling my they fixed my tire. And I asked. Was there another nail in the tire? My light was not on. My tires had looked fine when I came in. He didn't seem to know what to say. He then said they greased my rotors. I immediately said "Oh you mean replaced". I don't think he responded and just handed me the receipt. I should have looked at the receipt when he handed it to me. I couldn't put my finger on why I was not comfortable with our conversation. I felt like something was wrong. I tried to brush the feeling I had off. I went back to work and reversed parked and I could still hear a little noise. So I new they had done something.Maybe greased the rotors.lol Then it hit me at 4 in the morning on the 19th. So I got up out of bed and got my receipts to compare them. The first one dated 8/20- resurfaced rotors and fixed tire. The second receipt 09/13 no repair on front. Remember I wasn't there for the front. Repaired tire. Was told verbally they would replace rear rotors and breaks. Then 9/18 I was told they fixed a tire (WHAT TIRE?) And greased rotors. Witch it didn't hit me that he said greased I kept thinking he meant replaced. Mind you this is the 3rd time I have had to miss work. When I compared the receipt from the 18, it was the same receipt from the 13th. Did he accidentally give me the wrong receipt or was it deliberate. When I said oh you mean replaced rotors, Why didn't he give me correct receipt then. If I take the vehicle to another mechanic will he tell me they just greased the rotors? Witch is what I'm really tempted to do.

Customer service following purchase

Well you get lots of help when you're looking to buy...get car home find things that don't work, contact your salesman by phone and email get no response. you would think that they would make sure everything was working before they put the car on the lot

I do not recommend this dealership

Tried to tell me that the car I was selling them had "frame damage". Obviously, I was worried and took it back to the dealer I had purchased it from (no accidents on the autocheck) and we inspected the underbelly. We could not find any damage. When I went back to Carmax for verification as to where the damage was located, a location used to anchor the vehicle for towing (previous owner had a battery die and needed it towed) scratched the anchor hole; extremely minor (smaller than a dime). I would not recommend this dealership.
