I had been in contact with them all week to purchase a jeep wrangler. They ran a HARD CREDIT CHECK, they got all the financial paperwork ready to go. they sent me the payment options and i had a 10 am appoint ment on saturday morning to finalize everything. I went up on friday evening and got a hotel close to the dealership because we are over 2 hours away. at 545 that evening Kristi informed me that they were letting someone else test drive the jeep and would immediately let me know the results. At 930 the next morning i am still waiting for a response from her...drove 45 minutes backtracking from the hotel to the dealership. She wouldnt even come out to speak to me but instead sent another salesman out to inform me that they had sold the jeep! It wasn't like i was just interested in a test drive, everything was ready to go and they SOLD IT OUT FROM UNDER ME!!!! Be very leary when looking at purchasing from here

Beyond Excellent

My daughter and I both got a new leased vehicle. Everyone worked above our expectations. We were greeted at the door immediately. Our salesperson, Kristy, was friendly and made us feel comfortable. The manager, Mr. Huang, checked on us several times during the process and the finance person, Rora, was so knowledgeable. She was also kind and understanding to our issues.

Terrible administration at the Dealership

We as a family have had 2 terrible experiences with Great Lakes Dealership of Akron. the first one being Our first, we did not put in a review but the second one really hurt us. Now I would like to highlight both. 1. in 2020, My son bought a new 2020 Civic sport from great Lakes. this being the second car we bought from here. My wife traded in her Honda Civic 2012 to help out our Son. the deal went OK but we ended up with a copy of some one else's loan documents in our packet of documents. the loan documents contained her address, social security no, date of birth and everything required to steal someone's identity. we called her to ask if she wanted the papers back but she asked us to shred those papers. She also filed a complaint against Great Lakes. 2. the Honda Civic that we traded in, we asked for the license plates as the new car was for our son and plates could not be transferred. We were assured that the plates would be processed as per procedure. 3 years later my wife got a traffic-camera violation ticket from a Judge in New York showing the picture of the license plates of our Honda Civic on a utility van. the charge was speeding through a school zone. that is when we learnt that our license plates were still in my wife's name on another vehicle for the last 3 years. Unfortunately the Judge did not give us enough time to de-register the plates from my wife's name and had to pay a hefty fine. in a way I am glad it was only a speeding violation. what if those plates were used on a get away car in a heinous crime, we would have been in a lot of trouble. Or what if our Loan documents ended up with someone willing to steal our identities. I would avoid this place to buy cars. the administration here is irresponsible and do not care if they hurt people.

Great experience

I just bought a certified pre-owned CR-V and was very happy with the experience. I worked with Jeff Cox and would recommend working with him and this dealership. He was very patient and flexible with me and my individual needs and concerns, and made the car buying process easy, quick and painless. Also was very happy with the financing.

Disappointed

Went to look at a 2018 CR-V ad stated non-smoked vehicle. When we arrived they said car wasn’t detailed yet which I was glad because the seat had 2 burn holes and the center console was full of ashes! I still offered to buy it if they repaired a few things. But the salesman couldn’t tell me how much warranty was left and if it even had any kind of warranty. He was to worried to get me to sign a contract. I walked out

I've had nothing but undesirable experience

When I leased my 2020 Honda CR-V I was talked into a service package for 4 prepaid oil changes and tire rotations. The dealer would not honor the third tire rotation at 20,000 miles stating the tread was worn too much. That cost me $900 to put on a decent set of tires that I bought elsewhere. But that is not my most recent complaint. When I asked the service person why I never got my "prepaid set of wiper blade replacements" and what did I have to do to get them, he said" you have to ask for them". Today I stopped in and asked for my set of perpaid wiper refills. The service person told me he could not just give me a set, I had to pull my car into a long line of cars waiting for service, and that he would have to open a "service paperwork" and that a mechanic had to install them. I told him that was unacceptable for me to wait while the dozen or so cars before me were serviced in order to get a set of wiper refill blades. I did not have time to wait and ended up leaving. I've had nothing but indesirable experience with the service department and the dealership, and will not go into details of the other nightmares. I get angry with myself for even stopping back in for the wiper blades. I still have one more prepaid oil change and tire change, but will not be going to this dealer to get it performed, I will pay and take it elsewhere.

Greatly Low Ball Trade Values

Internet sales person was not customer service minded. Coming from out of state(Albany, NY) I started process online. After giving VIN and supplying 10 pictures of my vehicle I was given an "approximate" trade value. It was $3900 short of what a local dealer offered. ($4700 less than avg of NADA and K Blue Book). I was even willing to take a picture of the paperwork with appraisal etc and fwd to them. I explained and that's when the slaesperson turned sour. Said internet prices are "rock" bottom. I told them my monthly budget, and yet even then the price came back about $75 more per month(60 months) than what other dealer offered for a car price $270 apart!! I don't know if they purposely low ball internet customers on trade values, but as an experienced buyer, I know what my vehicles value is and as evident from the other dealer's offer they are way off. Do your homework on your trade folks, this must be how they maximize their profits. Sadly, they lost the chance at a sure sale and raving fan.

BUYER BEWARE

I went to look at a reasonably priced used 2015 Honda Civic for $13,773 with 86k miles, VIN: 19XFB2E53FE060889. The car ran great and clean otherwise EXCEPT upon walkaround I opened the back passenger door to find a fist sized corrosion hole between the wheel well and the door jam that they covered with strips of black electrical tape to make it go unnoticed. not surface rust, a hole with tape over it. After talking with salesperson he said they remained firm on the price despite this being a huge deal breaker for any consumer. there is no doubt that in northeast Ohio with wind, rain and snow, this hole would expand outwards to the face of the car and wheel well. The price tag on the car was for a 2015 used vehicle in GOOD condition ( relatively clean and minor wear and tear) any blue or black book appraisal source would rate this vehicle as fair considering the damage and repair cost if it is repairable. they have since lowered the cost by $200 dollars but this car would run a significant risk of losing 3k of private party resale value right off the lot and potentially more within 3-5 years. They would be lucky to see $11,300 for the vehicle to a naïve or optimistic buyer. Kelly BB and Edmunds appraises the car at max $10,300 even in this market. Do not buy this vehicle at the sticker price. Tread lightly at this seller.
