I found a quality truck online for a good price. Tom my contact was nice and meant well. He did what he could to get me the best price. The online listed... mileage was approx. 12,700 miles. I loaded my wife and two kids up and made the 2 hour drive to Commerce. Ready to write a check and sign on the line. We arrived and the truck looked great. BUT...we were then informed there was a difference. The owner, I assume they meant Billy Cain, had been using the truck as his personal truck. He had put another 3,500 miles on the odometer!!! After a calm and reasonable request to lower the price, since the product we were offered had been decreased in value due to the owner himself....we were told they wouldn't budge on the price, and offered nothing. Its not about the $1,000 or selling price, or uninformed added miles, its about customer service, and doing the right thing. In all honesty, my wife and I would have been fine if we had been informed....before we left our home and drove all the way to Commerce. The great 'Oz' behind the curtain making the final call wouldn't even come out from the back, shake our hand, apologize for the error, offer us a$50 gas card, and close the deal. Instead he left Tom and his team to try to make up excuses for why the owner had added 20% more miles driving around who knows where. I feel bad for the lower level employees who have to deal with lack of leadership in upper management. The dealership could look so much better, and sell so much more if not for poor upper management. In the end, I'll find another truck and dealer. We turned the trip into a chance to eat dinner in Athens. It was also a great learning lesson for our two children. When asked why we weren't leaving with the truck, we got to explain to them about customer service, honesty, doing the right thing, and told them that with our own business we've learned that customer service is the most important thing any business does.
The dealership never contacted me at all. I never received any information on the vehicle I was interested in.
After finding a few cars that I was interested in at this dealership, I phoned and had a very pleasant conversation with a non-pushy sales agent. I drove... 110 miles and they expedited my purchase with ease and clarity. They gave me a fair price on my trade-in and on the purchase vehicle. Friendly, professional, and fair traders is how I would describe my purchasing experience.
Started with a 1955 35 Ford coupe, first car, when I was 16. 5th generation came along and the fastback was looking good. Purchased a 2014 Mustang-Demo.... 8 Months later drove by Billy Cain Dealership and there sat a 2015 50 year limited edition package in race red so I traded my 2014. I love all the new technologies and new body style. I've always had fast Fords in my heart.
