BUYER BEWARE!

BUYER BEWARE! As I was looking for a manual Ford Ranger w 4x4 and rear seats, I drove from Detroit in late November to look at the 2010 Ford Ranger Angola CDJR was selling. My mechanics are in Detroit, so I relied on Angola's assured they care about their reputation, that if there were existing major problems/safety issues that would be of concern to them to make right, and, after I asked, they let me see their multi-page inspection paperwork that indicated no major issues. They'd just put in some fluids and some little electrical relay part. Well, so much for Hoosier integrity. They have none! (Nor, even basic class. --They handed me the keys with less than 1/8 of a tank for my trip home. C'mon! When I asked about it, the manager said "As is!" Wow.) As soon as I got back to Detroit, as in the next day, I had my TWO reputable independent mechanic shops look it over with the same conclusions and similar estimates: two bad ball joints and tie rods & NO emergency break --it had been ripped out! During the test drive, I had noticed the "ride" was rough, but they downplayed it and naive me, I thought it was the tires. The last two used vehicles I bought were through Car Max where they go through very thorough evaluations. They just don't sell cars that aren't safe or have major issues until when and IF they can repair them. Unfortunately, I took these people at their word and now I'm the one paying for trusting them. I understand that some older used cars are AS IS. But this dealership doesn't even have the basic ethics or morality to care about the safety of those buying their used vehicles. In addition to some of the safety issues listed, the brakes were almost metal on metal, had a badly clogged air filter and the power steering line was bad. So far, I've spent $2500 so far just to be safe on the highway with another $2500+ to go on some of the other issues like the struts, valve cover gaskets, stabilizer bars, and 4x4 transfer case shift motor, and given the condition of the air filter Angola couldn't be bothered to change, probably needs a major tuneup -- oh, and getting an emergency brake put in! I called Angola and got a bunch of xx.. "As is" ... blah, blah. So, given Indiana LAW appears NOT to be ok with dealerships knowingly selling people unsafe vehicles (and there is paperwork showing they did look it over, as required by law), it looks like getting these people to take any accountability will require me to file a formal complaint with the Indiana Secretary of State's office. And, if they didn't know, they should have (as required). And, if ethics were any sort of core value there, they would WANT to correct the situation after I informed them about the safety issues. But this doesn't seem to be the case with them. I would advise anyone looking for a used vehicle to avoid these people like the plague. Personally, I wouldn't buy a new car from them either. --When someone shows you how little they care about the safety who aren't paying top dollar for new vehicles, or how much needed repair work dollars they're into on top of their sticker price --they've shown you who they are.

Nice Dealer

Agreed on price over the phone. Vehicle was exactly as described. Simple and easy place to do business. Bought a 19' Ram with 11k miles.
