I had my 2013 Impreza for about 3 weeks at the time, it only had 25,000 miles. I was on a cross-country road trip/relocation across the country with two friends, NY to OR. About 10 miles outside of Sioux Falls, SD my engine literally blew up while doing 85 MPH. Luckily I had purchased the extended warrantee for my certified pre-owned so roadside assistance promptly towed me to Sioux Falls Subaru. It was determined that I needed a brand new engine and the repair was going to take over a week, this would have ruined our plans to hit several national parks and make it to Portland, Oregon on time. The staff at Subaru, specifically Paul Dahl in service and Jeremy the sales manager, did everything they could to make us feel at home and get us back on the road as quickly as possible. Jeremy offered several spots we could camp in the area, and even offered to let us stay in his guest house for a few nights, we were also given a loaner vehicle to drive in the meantime. When it was determined the repair would take longer than planned, we were given the loaner car to finish out or road trip, and they offered to have a driver bring my finished Impreza out to Portland to swap vehicles. The staff handled this insanely unique and unfortunate situation with utmost professionalism and class.

After researching Subaru we made our decision on what model we wanted. Were already pre approved for finance from Subaru.com. After looking online and speaking to a sales person, it appeared that they only had various 2.5 models in stock. We wanted a standard no frills 3.6 R Outback (no bells and whistles, just factory standard). We were not even fussy on color. From the get go the 2,5's were pushed at us. We were also told that 3.6 R's had to be ordered and that this would take 2 to 3 months and that there were not a lot of them available in the upper mid west……....but "We do have 2.5's". We have a vehicle that we were going to trade in. We were quoted a price which when we checked had no reduction (all that was done was the amount for our old vehicle was "tacked" on to the total cost. Oil changes/upholstery/nitrogen filled tires were also dealer extra's that added to cost and were not disclosed until we queried the high price for a 3.6 R Outback that we were finally quoted on, which turned out to be a “reject” from another customer who had run into some issues. We contacted a dealer in Minnesota and within a few hours we were quoted by email on exactly what we asked for, at a lower price. They now have our business. We are not fussy or awkward people BUT do know what we want. Plain and simple. So if you’re looking to buy a Subaru. I suggest checking ALL dealers in the Upper Mid West. It may well save you quite a few $’s (as it has us) and you’ll get the vehicle you want.

I had a good experience initially with the salesman, Nate. He was polite, answered every question, and took care of my needs. My problem is with the establishment -- Even though they did not have high pressure sales tactics, which is good, they do try to get away with overcharging. I bought a used car from them -- They quoted a price much higher than its value at first. The car was 3 years old, and the battery gave way within a month. When they told me the car was in perfect working condition, I believed them. And they didn't bother offering to cover the replacement costs for selling me a car with a close-to-dead battery. Do your diligence and ask all the right questions, and bargain, bargain, bargain. They are sure trying to get away with making a sale without offering equivalent value.
