Bait and switch. A big waste of time. Pre-approval means nothing. My credit is not great but not that bad either. Pre-approval showed interest rate at... 17.5% and that is high but what I expected to pay. Got to the showroom and it was 28.35% !!! Really? Waste of time.
After checking all around for a lightly used Honda or Toyota minivan, I settled on CarMax since they had the ability to transfer several possible cars... from nearby stores. I requested a transfer from Birmingham and it arrived earlier than promised. I test drove it, waited a week to make a final decision and made the purchase. The whole transaction was done professionally and without any extra sales pressure or tactics. This is the 2nd car in the last 6 years I've bought from CarMax and I'd certainly shop them again.
I visited CarMax with my sister the last week of January, test drove a car, found one that I wanted in my price range and the salesman, LaRon, ordered... for it to be sent to the Huntsville store. A few days later, I saw a car on their website that I was interested in as well. LaRon did not tell me that I could not view more than one car so he cancelled my first car and had the second car sent for me to view. I was prepared to buy one of the two cars on the spot. He should have explained the process to my sister and myself. So, I came home with no new car after waiting two weeks. I would not recommend LaRon at all...
