I just bought a 2000 Jeep Cherokee from Don and he was a pleasure to work with. I'll emphasize up-front that you need to know what you're getting into... when buying these old Jeeps. I had been looking for months, primarily through dealers, and it's common to find these completely rusted out with a whole range of problems. I live in Washington, DC and was willing to travel for one that I liked, but know to ALWAYS get the car inspected by a trusted mechanic before even considering making the purchase. Given that these are desirable vehicles, in my view it's not the dealer's job to get it repaired to perfect condition, so long as it can pass inspection and is generally safe to drive. Don had a few of these Jeeps and, knowing that I was a few hours away, he personally drove 2 to a mechanic nearby in Langhorne. They did a thorough top-to-bottom check on both and gave me a full report listing the various issues and estimated costs (Belmont's Garage comes highly recommended). It was $80 for each inspection, a very reasonable cost when buying a $6000 used car. The inspections allowed me to be comfortable and confident with the one I wanted (the other had a long list of issues identified by the mechanic), and I knew that I would need to invest around $500 up-front in servicing after driving it off the lot. Don was extremely helpful throughout the process, and understood that I wanted the vehicles inspected beforehand to ensure that I'd know the issues before making the trip to PA. We negotiated on a deposit so he'd hold it for a couple weeks, and made a clean sale the day of.
Money Pitt rust bucket. My husband bought a 2001 Jeep in March 2019 advertised as “clean” “ runs great” The first issue is that it needed inspection which... the merchant said he would reimburse, he did reimburse us but it needed work to even pass. The Mechanic told us that his car has many issues. The car looks beautiful at first glance but if you look close you can see the rust underneath the paint job. The passenger door not lock unless you use the key and the rust is eating away at the doors which are falling apart. We had antifreeze leaking and had to replace the radiator. The air condition does not work The stereo is great. We paid $6000 for a car stereo. We were stupid to jump into this purchase. Buyer beware.
To who it may concern: Penndel regularly sells retro Jeep Cherokees. These vehicles are anywhere from 18 to 23 years old. Every customer should be a...ware that they are not buying a fully restored vehicle of brand new showroom floor. The 2001 Jeep Cherokee that Ms. Jones bought was looked at thoroughly by HER mechanic and we at Penndel Auto paid for expenses. It is a common practice at our dealership to allow the customer to have full scrutiny especially on a CLASSIC 18 year automobile. The CarFax report was supplied to the customer with No Accidents reported. The vehicles only had around 132k miles. Any issues that Ms. Jones is speaking about deal with general maintenance. How can an individual dealer that is NOT Jeep anticipate wear out rates on older parts on a 18 year old vehicle. Miss's Jones Mechanic had every opportunity to xxxxx vehicle condition prior to purchase. Ms. Jones' mechanic expressed that there was nothing wrong with the radiator upon his inspection. Furthermore, purchase of vehicle was February 2nd where AC compressors do not turn on in cold weather. Lastly, our mechanics looked at the frame and conveyed that it was very solid. Once these vehicles are older. Any potential rust is due to age. I ask you, how do customers expect to have a fully restored vehicles from 2001 operating as if its a 2018 for only $5,900???? You bought the vehicle knowing it's a classic. - We have been in business for 45 years as a testament to our diligent business practices. We take offense to slanderous accusations. Respectfully, Don at Penndel Auto Enterprises
Shopping specifically for a Dodge Ram for our son (first car). We had been all around, looked at a lot of trucks and finally found it here. Don could not... have been any more attentive and accommodating with our schedule. There were a few minor things that needed to be addressed; he was super fair and quick to resolve them. Our experience from start to finish was positive. Communication was excellent!! We felt that we got the very best deal and would not hesitate to buy again from Don. Highly recommend!
Husband and I bought a used car from Don and he was truly a pleasure to do business with! He went out of his way for us, gave us all the info he had on... the car and we made a great deal. You don't find many people that are that honest, Don and his team are great!
Don is an honest person who is an absolute pleasure to deal with. We bought a used truck that looked and drove like brand new. He offered the Carfax without... us requesting and went out of his way to allow us to go over the truck. Would recommend to friends and family.
If you need a good clean car at a great price, Don is the man to see. His cars are spotless, and in great mechanical condition. If the car has a problem,... he won't sell it to you. He has a great reputation in the community and is the only dealer I would recommend. many of the folks I work with have bought cars through Don, and all were very happy. Top Notch!!!
I live in Texas and my Mother, who lives in New Jersey, needed a car. I actually bought the car from Texas, and Don took care of all the paperwork so my... niece could pick it up and surprise my Mom. Besides being a fantastic car that we got, the service and the personalized attention to make sure everything was perfect so my Mother would be surprised is what makes this Dealer so special. Thank you Don for everything you did to help us....my Mom was so surprised that she was crying...she absolutely loves the car!!! Sincerely, Marie
