Haven't purchased a vehicle from these guys yet but after reading ALL the reviews I just have to say that my upfront experience has been curious and very... professional. Ive spoken with the guys three times now about two different vehicles and each time, the salesperson has been very patient and answered all of my questions and even called back with a price range for my trade in. Sorry that others have had bad experiences or non returned phone calls but these guys have been great to me so far!!! Going down Friday to test drive a 17 suburban - To be continued...
I have bought vehicles here before and I used to recommend Dakota Motor to friends and coworkers, but this recent experience am now hesitant and skeptical... to recommend anyone there. I was at the dealership on 10/13/2018 getting a 2016 Honda Pilot, Dave was so RUDE and he doesn't have any good public relation and don’t know how to talk with customers. On this day, Ryan was not in but Bart took care of my business with no issues what so ever. Bart and Ryan are great, they know how to talk and deal with customers, but Dave is a no-no. If you call & Dave pick up the call, please do yourself a favor and just hang up or ask for either Ryan or Bart. Their vehicles are somewhat cheaper on average compared to others in town. Be sure to take the vehicle for complete inspections to an independent Auto Repair shop before buying. It worth paying that extra $15 to $ 100 for inspections before being a victim of bad purchase. My recent purchase was in an accident and was not disclosed to me. I took it in for a minor repair to the Honda dealership that is when I discover that the back door was not totally aligned. I called, and Dave was again rude on the phone., talking over me and not listening to my concerns and finding of the vehicle. Dave you an elderly man but you don't have manners at all. Have respect for your customers. Dave my advice for you is that, try to improve on your PR or just stay away from helping customers. I think you just okay to buy the vehicles and nothing else.
We found a vehicle at Dakota Motors on Cars.com and traveled 260 miles from out of state to purchase. This dealership is pretty busy and it took us a little... bit to sit down with a salesman. We liked the car and worked with Ryan to make a deal. They offer a 30-day warranty on their vehicles which is only valid at their own shop. However, 15 days after the purchase we had our front catalytic converter fail, and it wasn't feasible for us to take the car back for repairs. We called Dakota and they sent us a check to cover the cost of the part, no hassle. After installing the new part, it was discovered that the rear catalytic converter was also plugged up. We talked to Ryan again and he sent us another check to cover the cost of this part as well. Very pleased with how they worked with us after the sale.
I definitely have had a great experience dealing with very nice, open, honest guys at Dakota Motor Co. in Farmington, MN! A great car dealership!
Found a vehicle on Craigslist just last night. The price was great and we decided to go look at it today. We found their new location to be very nice as... were Bart and Ryan. We went for a quick test drive and came back to ask about a trade in. They surveyed our vehicle and offered us a very fair price. We made a deal in no time at all. Bart drafted or paperwork and we were back on the road heading home in less than an hour. A very pleasant experience! Thanks Bart!
I first started looking for a Toyota Prius with Bart. He took interest in me, was laid back, and gave me straight facts about the car I was considering.... When I left on Saturday, I was relatively certain I was going to get the Prius. Then, when I called back on a Monday, Dave answered the phone. Bart was unavailable. I told Dave I was comparing a Prius to a Mazda 3. Without asking me any questions, he immediately asked why I would even think there was a comparison between the two, ultimately implying that I was stupid. I attempted to ask questions, but he kept talking over me. I can't think of another time when I have been treated so rudely by a professional who was supposed to be seeking my business. Bart seemed great, and I would have no qualms about a sale with him. However, because of Dave, it is unlikely I will ever consider Dakota Motor Company again.
I walked into the dealership today with the intention of buying a vehicle. I have purchased many vehicles and have worked with many dealerships over the... years. Never have I encountered a more rude and unprofessional staff and sales approach. This may have been a "bad day" for the dealership, but the character of the dealership did not instill a feeling of trust nor confidence. With many good dealerships to do business with, I think it would be difficult to convince me to return with my business
We purchased a vehicle in June. A couple weeks later we realized that the back air conditioning wasn't working (it had been when we bought it). Because... it was within the 30 days they fixed it. It was a temporary fix that didn't last long. We brought it to their attention again, and although it took some time to get done (because of our schedule and theirs), it has been done and we are so pleased with the work and the customer service. Thank you!
Tried to get information on a car using email. No response. Sent email again. Got a response that was somewhat terse, saying call because that's the way... he liked to work. Guess what? That's not what I wanted. You want me to call, answer my two questions so I can determine if it's worth either of our efforts to actually talk.
I drove 250 miles to look at a used vehicle that looked very nice online. The vehicle was priced under book value so I wanted to be sure I felt the dealership... could be trusted. The dealership is busy and they have a lot of vehicles fit into a fairly small lot so we did have to wait a bit to see Ryan. However, I liked to see they were busy - better than not having any business, right? After 10-15 minutes, Ryan brought up the vehicle, let us take it for a test drive, and apologized for the wait. Everyone we talked to at the dealership was friendly and personable. Ryan was terrific. We bought a great vehicle, at a great price, got great service, and have absolutely no complaints. Once we decided to purchase the vehicle, Ryan had the paperwork done in no time and we were on the road home. I would definitely shop at Dakota again.
