Pushy and Messy

I have mixed feelings about this dealership.. I’ve now purchase 3 vehicles with them, and have had 3 very different experiences. The first time I purchased was pre-Covid when they had plenty of vehicles on the lot.. they salesmen weren’t pushy and waited for me to make up my mind the day I came in.. they were honest in finance and didn’t try to over sell extra products. The second time I came in post Covid after a total loss in an accident.. they just so happened to have a relatively used certified vehicle that I wanted… they were quick to get me in a vehicle, not answering all of my questions.. and I found out after the fact that the man in finance cut corners and broke policies in regards to my account. I also found out later that they cut corners with the title, and sold me the vehicle without having full access to the title. I only found this out after another total loss when the insurance company wouldn’t issue my damages payment due to my lien holder not having the title from the dealership. It was obvious the dealership really messed up here. I contacted the general manager, Brady Keys, and he was quick to put me in a loaner vehicle for about a month until new inventory arrived at the dealership. My 3rd experience was less than satisfactory… 2023, and they are practically pushing me into a new vehicle. They rushed me to put my name on something that I hadn’t even test driven. They used scare tactics like “if you don’t get this one, we may not have another one on the lot for weeks.” “You need to come in TODAY.” “We need a decision by Friday!” They were so pushy that it made me reconsider purchasing from them. I stood my ground and waited until I was ready.. but then the man in finance pushed me to purchase more coverage on the vehicle than I wanted.. he practically put extra coverages without my permission and said “this is the best we can do.” Honestly, if I have to buy another vehicle, I will stick to the Toyota brand because I love their cars.. but steer clear of Gene Messer and just go to Street Toyota or a different Toyota dealership in west Texas.


Gene Messer has the best service department

Brian in the service department is great. There is a Toyota dealer in our town but we wait to bring it in to Messer, 3 hours away, when possible. Much better treatment than Roswell Toyota.

Great experience

This was easily the most simple and convenient car buying experience. I was in Nebraska the whole time while buying the vehicle until picking it up in Texas. John made it extremely easy to communicate and made sure all of my questions were answered. I was also very happy with the trade in value they gave me for my old car.

12 month check up

I drive a lease vehicle and was in on January 13 for my annual inspection. The visit went very quickly. Free oil change and there was no charge for the entire inspection. Thank you so much.

Service/Parts Department! What a team!!

My 12 V battery in my Prius C died over the weekend. My car had to be towed to the dealership on Monday and I waited for a long time to hear about progress on my car. I called in the afternoon to find out that they were still looking for a battery. Michael, in the service department, called back to say that they found a battery but when they attempted to put it in, the battery was the wrong size. I had two back-to-back days of out-of-town work coming up on Tuesday (those "can't miss days" that everyone has occasionally) and I really needed my car. There was no rental available on the car lot. I wasn't sure how this was going to work out but Michael from the Service department finally found a battery in town! Thank you to Michael and the mechanic who stayed late to get my new battery installed so that I would not have to miss those important dates at work. I made it to both of my days of appointments. Thank you for your perserverance!

Excellent customer service

Took my car in to have headlight replaced. I ordered a new on-line. Did not realize I didn’t have a bulb. I put a new headlamp with old bulb. . When I got home it wasn’t working. bought new bulb at the dealership And they put it in right away without charge. They also were the ones recommended I buy online instead of at the dealership to save money. I appreciated that. Saved over $200 on 2 headlights
