This review is for the SERVICE DEPARTMENT (I had no issues with the initial purchase of my car). I brought my car in for a Kia recall due to a possible... fire hazard, the service was SCHEDULED on 4/28/2021, to bring the car in for the service on 5/5/2021. Upon calling, I advised I would like to have the recall taken care of along with getting a oil change, I spoke with a lady who advised that would be great, and giving a week notice will give them plenty of time to get the needed parts in for the recall. I took my car in for service on 5/5/2021 around 8:40am for a 9:00am appointment, spoke with Michael Falkner, advised I was there for the oil change and recall, he said no problem, asked if I was going to wait for the vehicle or drop off, advised I would be dropping off as I had read online the recall took a few hours to fix. Michael advised he would call me when the vehicle was ready. I received a phone call from Michael at 10:35am advising me that my vehicle was ready, and they “unfortunately could not fix the recall because the part is on a national backorder”. I was rather confused by this, as to why I was not told this while making the appointment, and was assured with me scheduling early would give plenty of time for the part to arrive. Also why was I not called to advise the part had not arrived, so I could have saved myself a nearly 2hr drive from Honaker VA, for a simple oil change, I could have used a local garage. Upon entering to retrieve my car, Michael said how am I doing, I advised I was rather pi$$ed off due to the recall not being fixed, he said “oh sorry, let me walk you over to pay for the oil change”. I paid the over $60.00 for the oil change, and on the receipt there is a message that “if you are not totally satisfied with service, call the manager Carl Stewart” which I did. I spoke to Carl at 11:32am, to which he explained the issue with the “national backorder” on the part, and advised that I should have been called to be advised that the part was not there. Carl assured me he was going to do some homework on this, and asked my permission for a call back in 20-30 minutes, to which I agreed. This was on 5/5/21 at 11:32 am, today is 5/10/2021 at 8:47am, and I am still awaiting that phone call. Very disappointed in the service I have received from Grindstaff Kia and the lies spewed by the service department. I would advised to look elsewhere for your vehicle needs, as it seems there is only good service when the buying process is happening.
We purchased a 2020 KIA SOUL on September 2019 at that time there where promises made that never came to fruition! Today we took itin because I found that... it was leaking break fluid. Lo and behold we were told that the clutch master cylinder was leaking AND it was going to take a month plus to get a replacement . It gets better, they had the audacity to say that the car was safe to drive but just keep an eye on the fluid, really. Personally I should have ask them to put that in writing, of course that would have never happened. Car dealer's are in it for the money period after the sale is made good luck to ya. Our KIA SOUL only has seven thousand plus miles on it, I'm sure now, that's why they pushed the ten year extended warranty we're going to need it. as a retired veteran I've all way lived by the adage live and learn by your mistakes.
Don't listen to the bad reviews! This is the best dealership in JC! There are no dealerships who care about your purchase as well as each and every service... appointment you will have on that new car, in the years to come. They are smart, if you're happy with your purchase for years to come, when its time to buy another car, believe me, you will go back to them!!
Buying my car was great. Everyone was so nice. Dealing with the service department is a different story. I was promised a year's worth of free service... when I bought the car, yet everytime I have came I have had to argue with them about it. Then I was 'supposedly' overcharged... the guy at the desk says I wasn't but when I called Eddie- the service manager, he says I was... so Eddie promised me a free oil change for the overcharge and now I am being treated like I am lying bc Eddie never put it in the computer. I will never bring my car back here for service.

I never made it to the dealership, after pestering me the day before I finally decided to call. Jeffrey Grindstaff answered the phone said that he would... call me back in 10 minutes. About 2 1/2 to 3 hours later and no phone call. I don’t think I will do business with them
