Horrible service

I went into Ron Tonkin Honda in Portland Oregon yesterday to have an air sensor replaced, my recall work done, and a headlight replaced. My appointment was for 8:30 am. I checked in about 8:15, and was told by the service rep that my vehicle should be done by 11:30 or so, and if there were any problems, she would let me know. We discussed, that since I live over and hour away, I would be waiting on site for the car. About 12:30, having not heard anything, I went out into the parking lot and saw my vehicle parked. I then went back in, assuming that they had called my name, and I had just missed it. No, when speaking to the service advisor, I was told that they had the wrong part that morning, but that the correct part has since been delivered, and they would be starting on my car immediately. She told me it would take no more than 90 minutes, and the confusion in not letting me know what was going on was due to their being 'double booked'. I assumed that since the time now needed was 1/2 of what I was originally told, that the recall and headlight had already been repaired, and they just needed to do the air sensor. I wasn't super happy with the lack of communication, but I was willing to wait. At about 2pm (90 minutes later) I walked out to see if my car was out in the lot. Imagine how I felt to see that it had not been moved from earlier. When I went in and asked a different service person was my car done? Why has it not been moved? She looked it up and said well, nothing has been done. NOTHING, 6 HOURS LATER. No headlight, no recall, no air sensor. Basically they parked my car about 8:45 and never looked at it again. This new service advisor tried to tell me that if I could just wait another 90 minutes, she was sure it could be done. I asked her, if I needed a 3 hour appt that morning, how were they going to get everything done in 90 min? Also, what happened to my being assured at 12:30 that my car would be done by 2, only to find out nothing was done. This service advisor told me that they were 'short staffed', and that's why nothing had been done. At this point I had spent 6 hours in the dealership, and hour driving there, and had an hour drive home ahead of me. I was quite angry, and demanded my keys, which after some stalling, she gave me. I did prepay for the air sensor, which I never got installed or given to me to take to somewhere else. I would like a refund for the part I neither have nor have installed, so that I can go to another Honda service place and get it installed. The total lack of communication (I had to initiate all conversations), the parking my vehicle and just not repairing it, my sitting for 6 hours assuming they are doing their job, the total lack of apology or asking me how they can make this better, make this the worst service experience I have ever had.


Recommendation for Tait Hanson who was a wonderful

I purchased a new 2022 CRV from Tait Hanson yesterday. He was friendly, courteous, professional and extremely knowledgeable. It was a great experience and I highly recommend him.

Great car buying experience

Bill Kruse and Evan Walter in Sales were great. Great service, friendly and factual follow up. No haggling, bought it at the agreed price. Even the “little room” experience with Windam in Finance was great. He explained the options for extended warranty, etc., gave a good pitch, but didn’t pressure. Explained the contract thoroughly. I’ll buy my next Honda here.


Very easy process

Buying our car was a very easy process here. Robert and Evan were very helpful on the front end and Marco was very easy to work with on the final pickup day.


Best salesperson ever

I would recommend this dealer to a friend, mainly because I really liked the salesperson who I dealt with and he made it all easy. I put 4 stars for facilities only because I saw a couple sales people indoors without masks and that bothered me. ( not the person who I worked with). After seeing sales staff w/out masks I waited outside as I didn’t feel safe indoors.


Got The Car I wanted

Contacted numerous dealers but Tonkin was able to give us the best price. Sales rep was very helpful. Only negative was that they were short on help in the finance department and we had to wait quite awhile to finalize the purchase. I believe that was temporary problem.

Working with Bill K. and Wendell was so great. Very nice people, excellent customer service and fair pricing. Would definitely recommend to everyone I know.


Love my Preowned Civic!

This car dealership was very busy at 4pm on a Saturday (very understandable) but a salesman was with me in minutes when I walked in. Nadiia, the only female salesman, was very kind and very knowledgeable without being pressuring. She did an amazing job! As a woman in the military I know that it can be tough being the only female in the room and I just wanted to showcase that I’m glad she was the one handling my situation. Winfred, the finance manager, was also very kind and works very hard. He fought for me to have a better loan at a better interest rate since I’m so young and a sole signer. He took his time and was very very thorough! This isn’t something that’s super common and I’m glad I went somewhere with someone caring! Overall, I had a great experience and I don’t have much to complain about. I bought a preowned 2020 Honda Civic EX and I absolutely am in love.
