I usually service my car with Autobarn and trust their service advisors, but since Berman is on my way home from work I figured I would give them a try.... I went in for an oil change and after inspection was told my rack and pinion was leaking and would need to be replaced. When I mentioned my car should be under warranty he immediately said "no it expired in February" and proceeded to tell me it would cost almost $2,000 to fix. I told him I was shocked at the issue since I haven't noticed anything wrong with the car and if it was leaking wouldn't I notice puddles under my car in the garage? He said it could be a minor leak that isn't dripping down to the floor. That made no sense to me so I notified him I had extended warranty with Autobarn so I would take it to them. He wasn't happy to learn I had extended warranty or that I would take it to their competitor and warned me it could get worse and I'll notice it in my steering wheel. My husband is handy with cars and I had him check it out and he found no issue with my rack and pinion but said we should take it to Autobarn to be on the safe side since maybe there is a small leak that he's just not seeing. We take it to Autobarn and what do we find out.....there is absolutely nothing wrong with my car. The guy even took my husband to the shop and showed him underneath my car that it is in perfect condition. So Berman saw my warranty was expired and tried to sell me expensive unnecessary work that I would have to come out of pocket for. SHADY SHADY SHADY salesman you just lost a potential repeat customer. I rather drive the extra 15 minutes to get to Autobarn who haven't once tried to cheat me in the 3 years I've owned my car.
