After a month of researching, shopping dealerships and lining up financing, I finally decided to purchase my very first brand new vehicle, a 2019 Subaru... Forester from Teton Motors Subaru in Jackson, Wyoming. I ultimately decided to do business with Teton Motors Subaru because of their honest and professional reputation, however, I must say, I am extremely disappointed in my overall experience. I won’t rehash the whole story here, but in short, I came to the dealership with my own financing, the Teton Motors Finance Manager said they could do better for a lower monthly payment, they did and I gladly accepted, signed the paperwork and drove home that day. I received an e-mail the next day from the Finance Manager saying she forgot to include the interest rate! After being harassed and bullied for three weeks to sign new paperwork, my application was NOW denied because I currently do not earn enough income. The finance manager said that my options were to submit a new credit application with my husband as the cosigner with their lender or return with my original financing. Also, threatened that if she did not hear back with my decision by 5pm next day (Friday on Easter weekend) “the temporary tag with DMV would be expired and the Forester will be reported as stolen” the upcoming Wednesday. I have not practiced law nor do I have the interest or means to pursue legal representation, but ultimately all I wanted was to keep the Forester at the monthly payment I was sold on, verbally agreed to and signed for. However, after weeks of being harassed and bullied, I was no longer able to endure the stress that Teton Motors’ General Manager and Finance Manager were causing my family and I. In the end, I was successful in obtaining my original financing through my credit union, I’ve had the Forester since March 28th and the transaction finally concluded on May 15th. I think that the process for buying a car from a dealership can be a great experience and that there are dealers who wholeheartedly practice transparency and integrity for every sale, regardless of their customers gender, income or level of education, etc. That is undoubtedly not the case for Teton Motors Subaru. My advice for anyone considering buying from Teton Motors Subaru is simply beware of their shameless bait and switch/yo-yo financing like tactics. In my opinion, Teton Motors Subaru is a disorganized and unethical business who lack the ability to give the sincerity and respect any customer would expect from any business. Looking back, I fully regret my decision to do business with Teton Motors Subaru and would NOT recommend working with them.
