Our experience at Hilltop has been fantastic with BOTH purchases. The first time we went to buy a car our credit wasn't in the best shape and we weren't... sure we were going to be able to get a vehicle at all. Steve worked very hard and made it possible for us to walk out that day with our first car! We kept that car for a year and a half and now that our credit has improved we went back and were able to get into a much nicer car and into something we really wanted!! Steve and Chad worked very hard to help us out. About a week after purchasing our SECOND car from Hilltop our check engine light came on. We called Steve at the dealership and they sent us the next day to 169 Auto Repair and had our car fixed and back on the road within a couple of hours! Great service, great people and great cars!
I have purchased from most of the "big" dealerships Saint Joseph and now with Hilltop Motors. BY FAR the best of the BEST would be Hilltop Motors.... No issue buying - the price is as far as you will find before you even test-drive - do your research and you will find each vehicle is below the competition and fair market value. Then the you have the staff - by far most honest, helpful, and empathetic men and women around - they want to help you as much as they want your sale. They stand behind what they sale, won't sale anything till it's right, and still can beat the competitors "sale price". I know time is precious but honestly give them a moment of your time and see that I am not lying and they really are the real deal.
I am glad all of the other reviews are so stellar. Unfortunately my review will not reflect the same. So we bought a 2014 VW Jetta, 36000 miles so a fairly... low mileage car. We drive the car off the lot and I look down at the gas gauge low and behold I need gas. No big deal not normal from the vehicles I have purchased before but oh well. I stop at the gas station to fill it up and get 2 gallons in, it is full. I call back and tell them that the gas gauge is not working. They tell me to call them on Monday and they will get it in. Low and behold we take the car back down from SW Iowa and are sent to the shop who works on their vehicles. Scott the owner of 169 auto sales and repair tells my wife he will get it in and should hear from him in 2 days. Scott calls and says he is unable to get it fixed and will have to send it to a friend who works on European cars. Ok no big deal, Scott has been outstanding with communication letting us know what is going on. Back up one step, my wife then goes back to Hilltop to hear the manager Chad yelling that Scott did not give her a car to drive. My wife walks in and states " he gave me a car while he looked at our car and was unable to fix it". Chad continues on with the salesman about Scott not giving her a car to drive, very unprofessional. Let's now jump ahead 10 days, I have not heard from the dealership at all with the status of our car. I call and leave a message for the salesman and he does call me back. Now let's jump ahead another week and still nothing from the dealership, I then call Todd Hill on a Saturday leaving him a message. I did receive a call on Monday but not from Todd from the dealership. Chad called my wife stating I must have put something on the internet because Todd was all upset and chewing on him. WHO RUNS A BUSINESS THIS WAY? Todd never took the time to call me the customer but calls his shoddy sales manager to call me who then makes my wife feel as though we have done something wrong. Well here it is and we are in week 5 and I received a call today stating they need their loaner car back as our car is done. I am glad everyone else have not had problems with their car because if you do there is no communication. Send the car out the door and move on. I will never do business at TRI-State or Hilltop Motors ever again nor will I suggest them to anyone.
They say they help ppl with bad credit. But u can not get the vehicle u want. They want to sale u what they want. Or at least tbe car saleman i dealt with... was like that

I went to this dealership looking for a hatchback car. I asked the salesmen if they had one, he looks around and says "NO". There was one showcased with... all the doors open, even the hatch, that I was staring right at. The salesman did not want to obviously sell it to me. I just graduated from engineering school and started a good paying job so I could of afforded the car. The salesmen thought otherwise. If you go here, be prepared to be judged.

So i bought this truck late Saturday i liked the truck so i payed there asking price. So since it was late i had to get insurance so i said i'd pick it... up monday the salesman said that would be good he would have it detailed and the keys fixed where they would lock and unlock to pick it up about 10 or 1030.So i get there about 1030 nothing was done he said he would set a appointment with ford to fix the keys. he calls me later that day and said to bring it in thursday morning i did he called later that day said the truck was ready.I get there the keys are fixed never got it detailed.They gave me 30 day temp tag sent the paper work in the mail so 28 days later i go to get tags guess what after waiting 2 hours at the dmv they tell me the inspection no good this is friday afternoon.So i go to hilltop saturday morning he tells me theres nothing he can do if i wanted to go get it inspected he would pay for it .So 1 1/2 hours at walmart and another hour at dmv i got it done .They was really help-ful till i signed papers then it all went down hill
