They lied when we looked at the car, lied when we test drove it, and lied when we purchased it. The car was a disaster. A former Imports Ltd. employee... saw the car when I took it in for major repairs and guessed immediately where I had bought it. He pointed out to me the cover-ups and cosmetic tricks they use to cover rust damage and other problems. Most dishonest bunch of crooks I have ever dealt with. I'd hate to have their karma. It will catch up with them if it hasn't already.
This post is long, but detailed about why I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this group of absolute scam artists. On November 3rd, I purchased a car after... my trusty Alero of 10 years was totaled in a fender bender. I don’t have savings. I don’t have much of a safety net, and this was a huge purchase for me. I decided to find a car I could purchase outright to avoid having a car payment every month that I couldn’t handle. I found what appeared to be a perfectly nice 2005 Scion Tc that I was able to test drive with no issue. I purchased the car that Saturday and felt a wave of relief that I would have reliable transportation to my rehearsals In Creve Coeur, which is a 25-minute drive from my house in the city. In the week that followed, the car broke down on me 3 separate times, once leaving me stranded on an exit ramp in Troy, IL and once stuck in the middle of a busy intersection on Kingshighway. The final time on Kingshighway, after managing to drive the car the remaining 3 blocks to a Midas, I was told that the engine was irreparably damaged. At this point, I had driven the car less than 25 miles. Every attempt at communication with Imports Ltd was laughably unprofessional. It took 3-4 calls daily for weeks demanding either a refund of my money, or that they cover the cost of rebuilding the engine of the car they sold me band-aided just enough to get it out the door. For two weeks, not one single call was returned. I would occasionally get a manager on the phone when I would call only to be told that they were "talking to management" or some equally vague nonsense answer. A full two weeks after the initial purchase, nearly $800 in the hole from towing fees, Dobbs, and $30 Lyft rides to rehearsal every night, I have FINALLY gotten my money back from this shoddy excuse for a dealership. Overall, I am lucky; I had the time and the resources to hound this business. I had the time to lodge a formal complaint with the attorney general’s office. I have a background in writing and research and was able to protect myself by reading up on Missouri emissions law and carefully documenting every time the car failed. What makes me angrier than anything else is that most people who buy a car from a trashy dealership like Imports Ltd are NOT able to protect themselves. They don’t have the luxury of working in an office where they can devote their lunch break to finding a way to recover their money. They’re often trying to get a car as quickly and cheaply as possible because they are working multiple jobs, have families, and having a vehicle can be the difference between having an income or not. “Dealerships” like Imports Ltd prey on the disenfranchised and those in our city who already have their backs against the wall. I don’t know what one voice without many connections can do, but I wanted to shed some light on the organization that has made my last two weeks a nightmare.
The condition of the vehicle that I was interested in did not live up to the condition promised by the salesman. I guess we have different meanings for... the words clean and working condition.. No deal made here.
Great experience, they were very helpful and curtiuos. Answered all my questions.
My dealer was upfront, informative, charismatic, realistic and helpful in my serch for a used car. I definitely recommend for my friends, and satisfied... with the car I've chosen.
I recently bought a car from Imports LTD and the service was excellent!! It was a very smooth process from beginning to end. Ado was my first contact,... and I could not ask for better treatment, assistance, and guidance through this entire experience. He went above and beyond to accommodate me. I would definitely recommend purchasing a car from Imports LTD.
Well to put it plain, I never heard back from any at this business.
