When I drove to the lot, I knew Joe Hicks had found the perfect second car for me. I am a return client to Joe because he listened to what I needed in... a car. He knew the history of the car and personally checked it over with me. Joe is thorough, personable, conscientious, and trustworthy. Despite everything occurring for Joe that day, he was steadfast in coordinating all the details. I took the car home that very day. I thought they pressured you to purchase more things than you would need other than the car. I walked out of there owen more than what the car was listed... for with a 2000 dollar down payment So I think that I did not get a great deal. I am no millionaire either.
Who could have thought that a trip to purchase a low beam bulb would lead me to find and purchase my "dream car." I owe it all to Joe H, who became my... sales consultant. As strange as this sounds, it really happened and I owe it all to Joe's guidance. He quickly tuned in to what I wanted. Joe encouraged me to ask questions. He was willing to work at my pace. When I needed to gain input from others, he supported it. When I needed to evaluate the pros and cons, he reinforced this. There was no high pressure. Instead he treated me respectfully and openly. Selecting the car was the easy part. I would ordinarily dread the business of paperwork, but Joe brought in Bart S., Business Manager. He was another gem. He made the process painless by explaining everything and also answering any questions I had. In conclusion, my positive and respectful treatment in Winona with Joe and Bart sealed the deal. Whenever I have further car needs, I will select Dahl Motors. When I first learned of Dahl Motors and purchased my Subaru in LaCrosse eight years ago, I had a wonderful sales person. I have since had positive service experiences in Winona. Working with Joe would make me confident to refer him to any of my colleagues and friends. After finding what looked like the exact car we were looking for through Cars.com at the Dahl dealership in LaCrosse, I contact them through Cars.com web... site and they contacted me back by e-mail and by phone. Since I lived about 100 miles away, and could not travel there for several days, I wanted to know what I could do to assure the vehicle would be there for a test drive (to make sure it was running well) before be made the purchase. The sales rep only said that I would have to purchase the vehicle and put down a deposit, which he said most people only do on a new vehicle. Two days later (a Thursday) my wife and I tried to make it there late in the day, but due to heavy fog and slow travel conditions, it appeared we were going to be arriving just 15 minutes before they were to close. We were half way there and called to make sure the car was still there and to let the dealer know we were running late. The original sales rep was out sick for the day. His phone message did not indicated he was out and the receptionist answering the general dealership phone apparently did not know this and kept putting me through to his voice mail. Eventually I was able to get a hold of his back up sales rep, who only expressed concern about our arriving so late, and not at all about accommodating our situation. But car was still there and she advise she was not aware anyone else was interested in the vehicle. We decided to turn around and try again first thing the next AM. Having to leave well before they opened to get there early, we could only assume that the car was still there as they had not called to tell us otherwise, as I had asked. When just a few miles away, they called to say "I hope your not on your way here, because someone put down a down payment on the RAV4 you were interested in at 8:30AM (They open a 8:30AM). This after having just traveled 2 more hours in still heavy fog. The sales reps we had dealt with were clearly more interested in just making a sale to someone, then helping us get the vehicle we wanted. It did not even sound like the vehicle sale was a sure thing, but that someone else was just holding it for them to come and see it. Big waste of our time and travel expenses. A sales manager did return my call to complain after we had turned around and began the long drive home. He appologized for the poor communications on their part, but said there was nothing more he could do at that point as the car was sold, but that if something should change, asked if I would like to be contacted. I said yes. He did offer to mail us a gift card to help pay for some of our gas. Three days later, I received an e-mail from another sales manager that read: Dear¿ Thomas, I’m not sure why my team has been unable to reach you; though rest assured that we will keep trying. If you’re still looking for information on the¿ 2011¿ Toyota¿ RAV4, I wanted to offer you my personal assistance. As the Sales Manager for Dahl Automotive La Crosse, I have the ability to answer your questions and make any decisions that need to be made. Had the RAV4 I was interested in actually been sold, or had the other party backed out on that sale. So I returned this sales managers e-mail with an e-mail and a phone message. I stated I was confused and asked for further clarification. It has been several weeks know, and never recieved a response from anyone from Dahls. This was a very disappointing experience, and even though I have seen several other vehicles that I would otherwise have been interested in listed by Dahls through Cars.com, I have not pursued them. Fool me once!
Easy, fast, transparent....the best buying experience I've ever had buying a car. Chris, Brett, and Daniel were wonderful to work with, the entire transaction... was great! Have already recommended my friends and co-workers to go there.
