BUYER BEWARE: IF YOU ARE CAR SHOPPING PLEASE TAKE A LOOK.I just want to let everyone know to be very careful when buying a used vehicle at Umansky in Charlottesville specifically the dodge jeep dealership. Back in September I purchased my jeep from there. The first strike was when they refused to negotiate the price of the vehicle... fine I still bought it. However once at home I discovered a tag that was originally hanging in the window with a price of $1,000 dollars less then what I paid. When I called and confronted them about this I was given the run around. First I was told by a salesperson that they do daily check on “the market” and within a couple days of it being on the lot that the market for this particular vehicle went up therefore the price increased. I was then told that they made repairs therefore they had to bump the price up, this was from the GM. Within a couple days I noticed several issues that would come and go. The unlock button on the drivers side worked when it wanted to, the knob on my gear shift continued to pop off as I was driving and changing gears, my parking brake was not holding and when I turned my heat on ice cold air was blowing out. The jeep also has a tendency to not want to start right off and acts as if it is flooded out after being ran and cut off for brief time frames. I notified the dealership and they said they “stood behind their vehicles.” Fast forward I bring it in and they have it for roughly 2 weeks. They said they weren’t going to fix the electrical issue with the unlock and lock button because it was too expensive to fix so they “met me in the middle” and fixed the knob and heat. They stated there was nothing wrong with my jeep and was unable to explain why it was acting the way it was when I tried to start it after driving it and cutting it off. My heat is now warm but cuts on and off sporadically, the high beam headlights get stuck at times and won’t dim, the jeep still acts like it’s flooded out from time to time.. and the list goes on. The brake also has failed since it was fixed. I was at my sisters house on fairly level part of the driveway with great distance between me and her boyfriends car. I ran inside for 5 minutes came out and my jeep had rolled into her boyfriends car. 😠 The GM told me his hands are tied as they already “dumped a pile of money into this” before putting it on the lot. Sounds like to like to me they knew it was a lemon. therefore instead of selling it when it whn it was traded in it should’ve been sent to an auction and sold as is. I put a small fortune down on this and have 6 years to pay on it and they do not seem to care. The GM acted like he was going to do something to help me out when talking to him face to face but unfortunately he is ignoring the messages I have sent him since Friday when I last saw him. I did purchase a warranty that has a 500 dollar deductible for each claim. I bought it intending to save myself if something major happened two years from now. Not within days / weeks of owning the vehicle. These problems were known about and were there before I ever test drove the vehicle. I just want people to be aware. I should’ve been more cautious. If I wanted a piece of junk I would’ve went to a whole sale lot or the Central Virginia Auto Auction for that matter, bought something cheaper and took my chances. This place wants to have the same reviews and reputation as a buy here pay here lot, that thrive off of ripping off innocent people. On another note I’ve had great experiences with the Steven auto group in Harrisonburg in past years and will continue to take my business there after dealing with this xxxxxxxx. This was my second purchase from Umansky and it will be my last.

It is always a pleasure to work with Brian Pope , and it is my pleasure to recommend him. He is very knowledgeable and informative. He has always kept my family’s needs in mind, and he has always pointed me in the right direction to make the best choice for my family. If you are in the market for a vehicle, I highly recommend Brian Pope at Umanski!
Best service department
We have purchased two vehicles from this dealership. The buying experience was so/so (finance guy was great though). What keeps us coming back, even though we have moved an hour away, is the service department. Tim Beugher, in particular, makes the drive worth it. We will continue to purchase from this dealership just to continue our relationship with Tim and the service department.
Bad experience Was buying a car based on the internet special offer - the dealship did not honor the deal blaming a third party that handles their advertising
Fantastic from start to finish!
Vincent and Kyle were fantastic from start to finish. They were extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and honest throughout our entire process. Vincent helped show us some Jeeps and Kyle helped us with the numbers and paperwork. We could not have a better experience. Highly recommended and will be coming back for any future vehicles!
Do NOT go here
I would highly suggest anyone that is car shopping to completely avoid this place. Purchasing our vehicle wasn’t the issue, Zia did okay with finding a vehicle that we wanted but he was new so he wasn’t very informative and needed people to step in and assist him. We were looking for an SUV for a road trip from Virginia to Texas to my husbands next duty station and HAD to leave Virginia by December 5 (which we were transparent about from the beginning). We wanted a vehicle with a roof rack due to having a lot of luggage. We purchased a 2018 Jeep Renegade without a roof rack but was told it would be installed before we left for the day. It didn’t happen and was told we could come back the following Monday for it to be installed and it’d take two hours maximum to put on. We arrived on the 19th, dropped off our Jeep, and came back two hours later with it in the parking lot and no roof rack. After this we continued to get the run around, we were lied to, and given false promises to when it’d be done. They had our Jeep from Nov. 19-30. I was livid to come back for the fifth time on Nov. 30 to be told we could pick up at the end of the day and arrived to our Jeep still without a roof rack. The General Manager stepped in at this time and had it completed first thing December 1 and gave us a refund for the roof rack due to all the trouble we had with Umansky and their team. We were visiting Virginia for the past month between duty stations and Umansky wasted very valuable time from us, they lied to our face, never gave us a call back, and could never give us a transparent and honest answer to why it was taking so long. Go anywhere else in Charlottesville to purchase a vehicle!
Professional, Friendly, AND A Great Deal
From the sales rep, Mike, the finance manager, Dan, to the GM, I had the most rewarding experience purchasing my Jeep Cherokee. Didn’t feel any pressure and answered all my questions. I look forward to continuing business with Umansky Jeep.
As always, service was first rate. Both of my Jeeps, 14 Grand Cherokee and 15 Cherokee were purchased here and all service is performed in an outstanding manner.
This is the best service department ever. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They know us and remember our name. Service is great and we depend on them
Very Pleasant experience
Shopping for a replacement vehicle, I did a lot of research on an automotive pricing and information website/app and narrowed my preferences down to two very popular models. We traveled many miles north of us and visited several dealerships but didn't feel good about doing business with any of them. I decided to do another search and found my vehicle right in my own backyard, as it were. James M., my sales rep, responded to the inquiry I placed on the aforementioned website. We set up a morning appointment for the next day. From the moment I walked in, on the test drive, and eventually sealing the deal, the experience was as pleasant and smooth as one can expect. James was robustly accommodating, friendly, but not high pressure at all. The staff in the finance department were a pleasure to work with as well. They exceeded my expectations on my financing needs. As for the vehicle. It was in tip-top shape: clean, serviced and ready for its new owner... namely yours truly. I am a very happy customer and without reservation recommend Umanksy (formerly Brown) Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep.
