Sending a cashier's check for a car only seen through online photos is certainly a bit risky feeling. Got the car today and would do this method of car... buying again in a second. Price was lower than I could locate at any of the "no haggle price" dealerships anywhere else, pretty much anywhere, for the same mileage/options. Process on my purchase: 11-8, found the car we wanted and sent an inquiry, received a prompt phone call from a Zoom rep, asked questions and I gave the required $500 deposit. 11-9, received and signed contract electronically, also received overnight FedEx label for payment which I had already secured via cashier's check from bank. Due to weekend and holiday, payment was received on 11-11 and email confirmation received. Car shipped from Texas to a local hub in Orlando, I was notified when it shipped and got a call from the manager in Orlando when they got it on 11-20. Delivered to me via flatbed truck on 11-21 clean and nice. The Orlando folks even said during the final inspection they noted in needed wiper blades and put new ones on. Everyone through the whole process was actually great and car was just as nice as the pics. I was a little less nervous about this because the car still had almost a year of factory warranty on it. The website said it only had one key but it had both. Only downside is the $500 shipping fee, which one could equate to same or less as the dealer fee most of them charge, and a $475 restock fee if you want to return it. So if you don't want the car, you're out of pocket $975. I'm reasonable and can understand the shipping cost of a tractor trailer from Texas. The wait is the only downside but I estimate I saved about $1500-2000 over a local purchase and I can wait a week for that. Hope my experience helps someone.
Gather 'round my fellow skeptics, I have a personal experience to share: After reading some negative reviews, I called Vroom to express my hesitation... in selling my car to them. The rep acknowledged they'd had their issues in the past but working to improve. Her sincere and forthcoming attitude is why I took a chance on them... and I'm so glad that I did. Their offer was the highest. Their process was rapid! Their communication skills were spot on. I'd email them with questions (and paranoid "what ifs") that came to mind, and their responses were immediate, thorough and put my concerns to rest. Even the independent carrier that picked up my car was friendly, efficient and cautious with the handling of my car. When I asked him his opinion of Vroom, he simply called them, "the best"... So what's the catch? Things were going much smoother than expected, somethings gotta go wrong... Nope. Vroom contacted me later that day confirming pay off to my lienholder. 2 days later, lienholder confirmed pay off, and the deal was done! Coming from a guy who has worked his entire life in/among the auto industry and has seen every trick in the book, take my advice... Give Vroom a try, because they have TRULY revolutionized the automotive purchasing/selling experience! PS: Thanks to every single Vroom representative for your friendly, attentive attitude, and thorough attention to detail. Your team managed to convert a true skeptic into a raving fan, as I've already referred a few friends. Keep up the great work!
