I took my X3 (100% under warranty) in recently for a minor error message that popped up. No noticeable issues with drive or engine inspection. The service advisor took a quick look and said it probably was just a sensor l malfunction. A few days later I received notification that it’s a big issue caused by outside damages and my car is in advanced disassembly and I need to file a claim with insurance to complete repair asap. I ask to get my vehicle to obtain a second opinion and the service advisor said an outsider can receive video or come in to look at it with me but it needs to be fixed asap by them. Horrible feeling. Regardless of settled outcome, I’ll update with an expert second opinion and legal outcome. Luckily, I run Finances for a publicly traded RV dealer and our legal is representing me in researching their decisions on assessment and execution.
