Bought a car on a Monday, on Thursday check engine light

Bought a car on a Monday, on Thursday check engine light with multiple codes and massive loss of power. Tried for two days to talk to someone and was just told they would send a message . No one ever called me back. Had to take the car somewhere else to have it fixed.

This is definitely what I'd call effective and personalized service. They reached out to me almost instantly after I showed interest in one of their cars, and they were polite and friendly the whole time.

Filed Complaint: Subject: Official Complaint Against

Filed Complaint: Subject: Official Complaint Against ALM Automotive Group (control #15041114) d.b.a. ALM Chevrolet South dealership, 4200 Jonesboro Rd., Union City, GA 30291, (770-756-6472) Dear Board, I am writing to officially file a complaint against ALM Chevrolet South located in Union City, Georgia, regarding the sale and handling of a used vehicle I purchased from them on June 20, 2025. Specifically, Rule 681-9-.02. Responsibilities of a Used Motor Vehicle Dealer requires: ALM Chevrolet South violated all aspects of these OCGA laws. They did not have the documents needed to sell the vehicle. They could not provide to me the documents that I needed to appropriately obtain tag and insurance within the required timeframe of the law. They could not provide the required documentation to the Georgia Department of Revenue within the legal timeframe because they did not have it. I paid cash for this vehicle and a bill of sale was issued on June 20, 2025. A 45-day temporary tag was issued with an expiration date of August 4, 2025. After the temporary tag expired, I had still not received the permanent tag or title. I made multiple attempts to contact ALM Chevrolet South via text, emails and phone calls to inquire about the delay. These attempts either went without return contact or when contact was made, they provided misleading information with no projection of resolution. Also, I contacted the Georgia Department of Revenue several times by phone and each time was told that the appropriate paperwork had not been submitted by ALM Chevrolet South and that I needed to contact them. Only after sending a letter to the ALM Automotive Group corporate office did I receive a phone call from Mike Seltzer who at that time was general manager at ALM Chevrolet South (he has now moved to a different dealership). He claimed to be totally unaware of my situation. He said that ALM was in arbitration with Manheim Auctions and that ALM did not have the title for the vehicle that was sold to me. He could not provide a timeline for resolution. Upon expiration of the temporary tag, I was forced to cancel my auto insurance because the vehicle could not be legally driven due to not being registered, insured, or tagged. I was finally able to purchase a Georgia tag on September 30, 2025. That is 62 days beyond the expiration of the temporary tag which I was not able to use the vehicle that I had purchased and well beyond the OCGA requirement. Despite repeated efforts to work with ALM Chevrolet South to resolve the issue fairly, they offered only $400 as compensation and I did use their courtesy vehicle for 20 of the 62 days. There total offer is unacceptable given the extended length of time that I was unable to use my vehicle. Their offer of $400 translates to only $6.45 per day for this extreme inconvenience and which is much less than it takes to purchase and maintain a car in Atlanta. In the meantime, the expiration dates for my service agreement and limited extended warranty are all ticking down. I requested from them either a full extended warranty or a service/parts credit of $2,500. ALM refused to provide any further reimbursement or resolution. I believe the actions of ALM Chevrolet South reflect a serious breach of consumer trust and violate the laws for licensed used motor vehicle dealers in Georgia. I respectfully request that the Board investigate this matter and take appropriate action to hold ALM accountable. Please let me know if any additional documentation is required to support this complaint. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.
