Finance Manager had me sign for "Theft. shield" told me it was free, later checked my paperwork I was charged $379.00. Went back ne t day told him I did not want it. Said he would reimburse me, waited a couple weeks no refund. Wrote a letter to the owner, got a call from the alleged son, said he was sorry and would reimburse me ASAP. After over a week no refund. Do not do business here, owners are crooked all the way down, they encourage this behavior. I learned the hard way. Filed complaint with BBB and States attorney office

We recently purchased our third brand new Subaru from Mario at Autobarn Subaru of Countryside. I suppose it goes without saying that if we felt like we've had poor experiences with Mario in the past we would not be buying our third new car from him! Mario is an absolute pleasure to deal with. He's friendly, honest, and still remembers things we talked about seven years ago when we bought our first car. We have always felt we've gotten the deal we wanted, and we've never been made to feel as if we're either treating him and the dealership unfairly or being treated unfairly by him. All in all, we've had three extremely pleasurable car purchasing experiences with Mario. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend him, and Autobarn Subaru of Countryside, for your next new car purchase.

I was welcomed to the Autobarn by a friendly salesman, who's name was Mario Nowik. He answered all my questions about the various cars and even more so. He asked me what type of car I was looking for and thought about my answer for a minute or wo and said " wait right here, I think I have what you are looking for". He drove up right by the door and there was this beautiful Red exterior with Ivory interior car and it was Beautiful! I fall in love with the care immediately. Mario and I went for the test drive and it drove like a dream. I drove to my home near by and wanted to see if my sister, Carol, who has a disability could get in and out of the car easily and she could. Mario helped me and my sister and we went for a little ride with her and she thought it was beautiful too. I came back to Autobarn a week later with my favorite nephew and the Deal was Done! Boy, that Mario, could read me real Clear and hit the nail right on the Head! What a Guy!

I started my Subaru purchase experience by shopping for competitive quotes via email. I am an Indiana resident, which is important later in this debacle. Jessica at Autobarn Subaru of Countryside gave me a very good quote on 2017 Forester Limited with Eyesight and other options. After I started asking about the fee details she told me I would need to deal with a certified salesman. The first salesman never got in contact with me. I called the dealership twice and Eddie made contact with me. Eddie provided me with a "Bill of Sale" which included unexpected items like "Theft Shield" + ERT Fee + Title/Plate Fee which totaled $1083. Since I'm an Indiana resident all that I need is a $10 30 day drive-away permit that makes me legal to take the vehicle back to Indiana and register it there. I argued with Eddie about this and he finally came up with a story that if I paid cash that would work, but since I was planning to finance part of the purchase he had to collect all those fees. All those fees he added were going to go right into Autobarn's pocket. I filled a complaint today, with the Illinois Attorney general and plan to give Autobarn some more free advertising where ever I can. I am purchasing from a different dealer.

I believe that the misunderstanding detailed in this review has already been addressed by the management staff involved. For the sake of anyone else reading this it is important to note that despite the claims listed here, no improprieties occurred. In short, if even a portion of a vehicles purchase price is to be financed by a buyer in another state, the lienholder generally requires that all taxes and registration be completed prior to the completion of the sale. A third party specializing in 50 state registrations is used for this task, and all such fees (including their service charge and postage) are calculated by them. None of these charges are profit for the dealer and this assistance is provided as a service to our customers. We do apologize that this was not made clear at the time of your visit and that the transcript of applicable charges from the third party agency was not provided to you. We have implemented strict policies to assure no further misunderstandings of this nature occur in the future.

Eddie was overall fantastic. My wife and I drove out to Countryside from Chicago to look at a specific used car that they had on their lot. We were hesitant to drive out there as my wife is very pregnant and we didn't want to be stuck in an office closing on a vehicle if she were to go into labor. Eddie assured us that if we decided to purchase the vehicle he would make the paperwork/negotiation portion as timely as possible. We knew exactly what we wanted and needed to make a deal and Eddie worked with the manager and the finance department to make that happen. Couldn't be happier in our new vehicle and couldn't recommend anyone better than Eddie.

TL:DR took them 2.5 hours and cost me $140 for what ultimately turned out to be a $6 plastic gas cap replacement. Technicians dismissive at best. Like many people, I don't write reviews on the internet unless I have strong feelings one way or the other. Came here because of Cars.com rating when my "check engine" light came on. When I pulled up the customer service representative was on the phone with another customer. He made several dismissive, eye rolling gestures in full view of myself and other customers as he conversed on the phone. When I described the issue he said "Do you have time to wait?" and, without giving me any idea about timeline, he took the key and left. This struck me as odd, as they didn't appear particularly busy. Fast forward an hour, I am still waiting in the (admittedly comfortable) lounge area with no explanation of the diagnosis or repairs. A different technician comes out and asks me for my information, because the first technician didn't take any of it down. Not even my first name. He also (rather rudely) demands that I sign the invoice for a $140 diagnosis. When I ask for information about the car, he explains they haven't looked at it yet. 20 minutes later, the first technician comes back and explains the light went on because the threads on the gas cap have worn down and there is a minor leak. The plastic gas cap needs to be replaced, that's all. Then he is unsure whether they have it in stock. How can you be unsure for an additional 30 minutes? I don't know, I'm not all that technically inclined. They of course charge me the full $140 dollars. The gas cap retails for $6 on the internet. I realize they had to dedicate labor to the diagnosis, but I also know thats like a 5 minute process.
