Went to buy a New Toyota Rav4 Hybrid. We were interested in the XLE Trim in a gray or black color. They told us that the only one they had was up in Michigan... so they'd have to drive up there and get it. After waiting three or four days and having to call four or five times we finally got an answer on the car, it 'was damaged' and they couldn't sell it to us. How they didn't do their due diligence ahead of time to see if one of Toyota's own New cars was damaged is beyond me. I think that they likely sold the car and this was their backpedal. So we waited for them to locate a different car, also in another state. They kept emphasizing what a terrible inconvenience it was for them to have to go get these cars, even though we were about to give them nearly $40,000 and patiently waited while they got their slip-shod operations in order. We went to see the latest one they found yesterday, and the specs we were promised were missing. After our salesperson promised us 'oh yeah all of that come in every XLE standard, no question'... well here it was and guess what was missing, most of what we wanted. So we went back in to their office and tried to find another one. After locating what we hoped would be 'the one' we went back out to look at the one we were looking at. At that moment Pete, the sales manager, popped up and started aggressively questioning us. He didn't introduce himself, no nametag, no 'hi how are you?'. He said 'What don't you like? Why don't you want this one?'. We responded that it didn't have XM Radio (by the way Toyota, what New car doesn't have XM?), and that the screen was crappy compared to the nicer option available. He said 'fine we'll give you your money back, fine' angrily. We hadn't paid for the car yet. This guy was quite obviously amped up for a fight. We said 'well we found one we like that's right in Milwaukee' to which he replied 'No, we're done with that. No more dealer trades. We're done'. As if we were inconveniencing him with our business. No apologies for the four visits we had to this dealership with fifteen people working but only one who would pay us an ounce of attention. Pete could not have been more unprofessional. No handshake, no introduction, no 'how can we make this right?' like a true salesman. I will be telling every single person I know who might be in the market for a car where to avoid, Toyota of Lincoln Park. As long as Pete works there, I will make it my mission to spread their bad reputation. Pete was so rude and inconsiderate that I will never step foot in this place as long as he works there. We had a $36,000 check in hand to give this place, and Pete single-handedly ruined it.
I have had SERIOUS issues with Grossinger. The day I bought my car, the check engine light came on. I brought it to Grossinger and they kept the car for... 3 days while they got the part and made sure it was installed correctly. When I got my car back, there were huge deep scratches on the side of the car. They took the car back and said they would fix it. They kept the car for another 2 weeks while they repaired it. Then, they drove the car to a body shop in the FAR suburbs of Chicago and added over 80 miles to my brand new car with only 60 miles on it. I made multiple calls, sent emails, and left voicemails to Grossinger and they never responded to me. There were many more issues along the way, but the general manager promised he would make it right after multiple mess ups on their part. He asked me to think about what would make it right, I suggested that we continue the maintenance service to be extended past one oil change, they said they would look into it and get it done. And have ignored me since. Basically, they will say WHATEVER it takes to get you to buy a car, then say whatever it takes to make you go away.
Just leased my 4th Toyota from Grossinger City Toyota. Excellent dealer in Chicago. My salesman Abdul and sales manager Jay treat me like gold every time... I'm there. No pressure, will go out of their way to give me an extremely competitive deal, and never pushes for unneeded extras to my vehicle. Service Department is excellent. Highly recommended.
False advertising. They said the vehicle I was looking for was sold and tried to offer other vehicles in their inventory. Customer service is really bad... and they never respond to calls or callback to confirm availability.
I am sorry to hear about your experience. We are under new ownership and providing an exceptional Customer Experience is of upmost importance to us. W...e have an entire Customer Care Team devoted to making sure our customers receive the assistance they need. If I can be of any assistance please contact us at 312-256-8901.
Looking for a used car and found a nice Tacoma to check out. The vehicle was in great shape and the sales team was very friendly.
Thank you for your business!
It took us 6.5 hours to lease a car (part of which was because they'd locked the keys inside and only had one set) and when we did it had a cigarette hole... in the back which took another 1.5 months to fix. They were inept, uncaring and difficult to deal with. We were eligible for an early lease trade-in but waited until we moved in order to go to another dealer.
I had a great experience doing my car shopping at Grossinger. The staff was extremely courteous and respectful and I was really treated well. My salesman... was Abdul and he is a great asset to the dealership. He has great customer service skills and I thoroughly enjoyed buying car through him. He was very professional and also kept me smiling and entertained during my entire visit. We had a long negotiation process but I was never insulted or mistreated for giving any kind of offers. The manager and finance team including valet team was excellent. This is the first dealership I have been to where I left happy and smiling. Yes I bought a car from them and also traded in my old car. I got a good deal. Will highly recommend to my family and friends.
We live in St. Louis and contacted Grossinger regarding a car we saw online. We called and asked if we could get it for "X" lower price and they told... us they'd work with us if we were driving all the way from St. Louis. We got there and they offered us $100 off, not even worth our gas money. They were aware we were going to refinance (credit score of 834 and the best APR was 5%???), and that we HAD to pay our taxes on site and they'd mail the plates. We told them you do that all at the DMV in Missouri, it is never mailed. They made us use their middle man company, ATC, regardless. On top of that ATC made us get a safety inspection, despite everyone at Testing Centers and DMV in Missouri telling us our car is too new, we don't need one. We purchased the car May 3 and after calling and emailing Carol in Titiling at Grossinger she kept giving us the run around saying they were waiting on ATC. I finally called ATC 7/22 and they said everything was registered on 7/5 and they were waiting on the dealership. Sent Carol an email, furious since we were on our 3rd temporary plate, and never heard a response. Called her the next week and find out she doesn't work there anymore. Explained everything to the new person, who assures me plates were sent out that day. I received today, 7/28, and our LAST NAME is spelled incorrectly on all the paperwork (title/registration). No one from the dealership has returned my phone calls or email, and now I have to go to the DMV and probably pay a re-titling fee to correct our name. I'm hoping that all it takes. Each month we cannot refinance it is costing us $50. Having previously lived in Chicago and having a lot of family and friends up there, we will never recommend this dealership to anyone. Unprofessional, and messed up a handful of details which is costing us more money.
Got there waited 45 minutes for them to find and bring the car down. Finally after a long wait the car had service lights on. The salesman was very convincing... with his down play of why the dashboard resembled Christmas lights.
Excellent service - great experience! Finance guy was really driving a HARD bargain but I prevailed.
