My family has own the 1991 Chevy pickup half ton for aprx. 9-10 years and it is still going strong. The one downside of ours is that the odometer quits working. It has been siting at 191k for a long time now. We went on a 500 mile trip and the odometer said we went 24 miles. Right now the truck would probably be sitting at 250k to 300k. There has been no major things wrong with this pickup, we had to replace a cab corner once but that is to be expected with a 16 year old truck. It has a 5.7 liter engine with plenty of power. We've hauld a lot of hay bales with her and she has enough power plus more. It is the best, most reliable truck we've owned!

In 1990 I was broke but had great credit. Bought a new 1991 1500 from the Chevy dealer, GMAC financed 100% of the purchase. That truck has never let me down. I have had 3 flat tires, 1 busted belt tensioner pulley & 1 bad alternator. Even with these mishaps I was able to drive to the nearest NTB or auto parts store and fix the problem. About 7 years ago I redid the exterior, new paint and a gallon of clear coat. Truck looks great. Motor still runs but after 198,765 miles and sitting up in the barn for the last 3 years it is time to do the engine, transmission & interior. Was not planning on do this but last weekend I washed it & had forgot what a great paint job it had. So starting this weekend the truck is getting put back the way it was when new.

We bought the truck when it was 5 years old, and it had 88000 miles on it. It had all the features that they offer. It is still running strong at 261000 miles. It is a extended cab, short box, with a 5.7 liter 350ci motor. I would recommend this truck to anyone, even if they arn't looking for one.

I have drove a few diffrent styles of the Silverado and let me tell you the 1991 looks, sounds and feels like a real truck. The 2008 silverados are not capable of towing as much as the old 5.7L V8. They say the 08 is only good for 6500 LBS. I have pulled 7800 LBS. with my 1991 and could barely tell it was there. The velvet interior of the 1991 is a nice touch it helps the ride comfort witch is also great. The 1991 handles like a average car. Another plus is the turning radius is outstanding. The 1991 is a great truck for showing off, just riding or a work truck. The Silverado is ready for all of them. The 1991 Silverado is ready for a long lasting reliable relationship.

Bought in Decatur TX 8/91. GMC - 5.7/350 with the 5 speed manual trans. Changed oil regularly, added Slick 50 twice at 50k and 100k- first 18 months I had the truck. Used it as my everyday driver and work truck until 2005, 240,000 miles, when I bought a second car. Used this truck on my ranch and around town, low miles since, towing the boat to the lake, hauling seed and feed, hay trailer. Original motor now has 255,000-never rebuilt, doesn't burn or leak oil. Other than expected repairs-water & power steering pump, alternator, a couple worn gears in the trans and the commons-brakes and tires. Tuned up yearly now, still changing the oil twice a year if it needs it or not. Moved to Indiana 2015-don't drive it in the salty winters, rust free truck in great condition is still turning heads like it did in 1991. Always reliable since day 1- I took care of it and 25+ years later it's still a beauty.
