I had a 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan, bought used in '03 and had it for nearly 10 years. I loved this car. Never had any problems. Did the regular maintenance you would do with any car. I recently lost it in an accident with a truck hitting me at 50 mph from the passenger side. You think this car would have totally smashed. It didn't. It's quality-built. This car and its seatbelt saved my life. I had it for 10 years and I miss it so dearly. Had I not had the accident, I would have kept this car for life, and it would have lived like I bought it yesterday. Love this car. I will always have a Honda.

I've loved this car since I bought it new. It has 132,00 miles and I have never had to do anything but normal maintenance items. I have been meticulous about those! I did put new front struts on it at $125,000 miles. My mechanic said it wasn't absolutely necessary but it had a small squeak over bumps and I chose to replace the struts. I will drive it until it simply dies, whenever that is. The only thing that I can say slightly negative is the A/C is a little weak, although I've not been seriously bothered and I live in Phoenix. I understand newer models have improved the A/C. I hesitate to buy a new car, don't trust that the quality is as good and see no reason to spend the money.

I have the 2 door manual civic and I absolutely LOVE it!! There's really nothing at all bad to say about this car! It has a surprising amount of roominess and the power combined with amazing gas milage makes this the perfect car for me! I'm 16 and this is my first car, it's also the first stick shift I've ever driven, and I gotta say, VERY good first impression! It's amazingly fun to drive and the savings on gas are just incredible!

Best car for gas mileage, reliablility, and price. Even price for parts are great. This car is perfect for a new driver and/or an everyday commuter.

This standard 4 door is a dream. Start off with 40mpg on the highway, (42.4 if you hypermile), large amount of headroom (I'm over 6'1"), and a huge trunk for "stuff", this car is a dream to own and drive. And you can pick one up on cars.com for less than $5K. No brainer!!!

I got his car as my very 1st from my mom. We've had it since day one and it's never had an issue. typical maintenance (timing belt tires etc ) but not necessary for the 1st 10 yrs. It was our family car for vacations and we could make it from home to Vegas (5 hrs) and home to my aunts (8 hrs) on one tank. Perfect teenager car or "soccer mom" car. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

I bought this car used with 90k miles on it. I believe if the previous owner took better care of it, I would not need to put so much money into fixing it. The a/c doesn't work, all my brakes are shot, the ceiling is losing its adhesive, it leaks oil, the front passenger side window has always had problems even after fixing it, and a partridge in a pear tree. It does get great gas mileage (28-30 combined) and if you fail to close your door all the way, you could literally push it closed with a single finger instead of having to open the door again. When I first bought this car, it was totally worth the minor details that needed to be fixed. But as I stand here writing this review, these details seem to keep appearing. I thought I would get 200k miles out of this car, but now I wanna sell it before it hits 100k. I put myself in a terrible position and you shouldn't do the same. if there's multiple things wrong with it, it ain't worth it. Maintenance is cheap, I get it, but get something worth spending your money on.

Never had problems with this car. I fill this car $40 a week and that is that I work 35 minutes away from my home. I have had it for a year and was the best choice I have made

I broke the family mold when I bought the first Honda among 5 Toyotas. In all honesty, the Civic has been a mixed experience. The Good: Lots of features for the money, an excellent sound system, power everything (except for the front seat, grumble). Decent styling for an econobox, generally reliable, but see below ... Power train has a lot of torque yet actually delivers the promised 30-32 mpg while meeting ULEV specs. Roomy back seat and a generous trunk given the car's overall size. The Bad: Drives like a brick, even after replacing the OEM tires (twice!) Stability in wet weather is questionable, a concern I've heard from other Civic owners. I understand Honda revamped the front end for 2002, however. Overall reputation for reliability has been compromised by a failed power-steering unit at 37K miles; dealer insisted that the problem was caused by poorly-maintained local roads despite the fact that I'm a careful driver (granted, roads here are crummy) and that other owners have had similar failures. Would I buy another? My jury is still out.
