Great Commuter Card
At the time of writing, my 2008 Civic has over 62,000 miles on it, so I feel I can accurately review the car. When I first purchased this vehicle, I was living in Illinois during the harsh winters. I was also doing an 80 mile round trip commute to work. Let me just say that for being a relatively low cost, low end sedan the car handled great on the snow and ice. It handled better than my friends 1999 Civic. My 80 mile round trip commute was 70% highway and 30% city on mostly flat road, and I was averaging 38-41mpg per tank, easily. I now live in Northern California do 95 mile round trip commute to work on the crowded CA highways. Thankfully I can commute in off-peak traffic hours. I'm averaging 36-39mpg pretty easily, with my 90% highway commute. I will say, though, that the city gas mileage out of the car is lacking. I live in a very hilly area and average, maybe, 27mpg when I drive around my city. I know for a fact that my friends 1999 civic gets better city mpg than my 2008 civic does. Probably due, in part, to the smaller engine in the 1999. I've read a few other reviews saying that the car has a rough ride. Perhaps I have not personally driven a car more expensive than an Accord for an extended period of time, but I know that this Civic has a better ride than the 1999 Civic and the 1992 Accord. Might not seem like a fair comparison, but it is all I have to judge by. I also read a review saying the car was cramped. I'm 6 feet tall and I fit very comfortably. I've also never had any passengers complain about leg room in the back seat - and I've had some very picky passengers. As far as the overall style of the car, it's not the greatest design, but it's not the worst either. It took me a while to get used the to huge dash inside the car. The engine also provides power when necessary. It definitely has "get up and go" performance when needed. I will say that this is the most reliable car I've ever owned. 62,000 miles and on my second set of tires, factory battery, factory brakes, factory spark plugs. All I really do is standard oil changes and tire rotations. I think I'm also on my 2nd set of wiper blades (I refuse to buy cheap wiper blades). I've never once had any sort of breakdown or needed to be towed. As far as interior features in the car, it has everything I need. I opted to not get the navigation system because it was too expensive. I just use a Garmin gps for navigation. The radio has an AUX input perfect for my Ipod, and plays MP3 cd's. Pretty much all I need in a car. The speakers are also very good. I have noticed some feedback when listening to the ipod, but have not yet figured out if it is the radio, or the ipod causing the issue. The steering wheel controls are wonderful. The cup holders are nicely placed. The center console holds a lot of stuff. It is also really nice to have 2 12volt outlets. I think that pretty much sums up my review, I can't think of anything else to say about the car.

Switched from Toyota to Honda
I've owned my 2008 Civic EX sedan for about 9 months now. I was fed up with my power-nothing '99 Corolla, I was 9 months pregnant and wanted something newer, safer and with more convenience features. I got all that with the Civic, it feels like I have a new toy. The EX comes standard with a sunroof, power windows/locks/mirrors, there is an auxillary jack for MP3 players plus a plug for a car charger in the center console, gotta love that. The few minor irritations that I wish Honda would correct are: -The fact that the car doors lock every time I put it in park and every time I get out of the car (this scares me w/baby, I'm known to leave keys inside sometimes). -The doors don't stay propped open. Most cars I've had can be placed at 45 and nearly 90 degree angles and remain open, this car's doors swing back on you no matter where you try to prop them. Also an annoyance with a baby. Other than that the car has been a pleasure to own, lots of great, standard features that make you feel as if you've gotten more for your money.

For short people on short trips.
My 2008 Civic LX coupe is an exceptional car. Great mileage, good handling, and stylish. I bought it for commuting my daily 50 mile round trip, and it was one of few coupes still available. But after 18,000 miles I find myself driving my gas guzzling 4WD pickup instead. I am only 5' 10.5 inches tall, but I can't wedge myself into the Honda comfortably - not enough leg room to relax my gas pedal leg. It rides hard, too. Maybe I should consider trading for an Accord, but the Civic rides so hard I'm afraid the Accord would be the same.. so ..... I'm looking hard at the new Camero!

Si is the Best Bang for the Compact Car Buck
I have a 2008 Civic Si Sedan, which overall, offers tremendous value for the money. The car has a taut but compliant ride, with suspension that isn't upset over rough pavement or expansion joints and won't wear on you over long trips. Having tracked the car, I'm amazed how well body-roll is kept in check and there is minimal nose-diving when you slam on the brakes. A 2.0L engine with an 8,000rpm redline adds to the fun-factor and sounds great. The downside: aggresive gearing means the engine is always revving high, even in 6th gear at 65mph (this also hurts gas mileage compared to more plebian Civics, averaging around 24mpg in my experience). Torque output from the small-displacement Vtec engine is another weak point, so you'll constantly row through the gears; luckily the gear-box is fantastic and a pleasure to use. Adding to every-day livability is a large trunk, fold down rear seats, a decent stereo and very well bolstered sport seats up front. Although steering is electrically assisted, its one of the better iterations I've driven and gives good feedback. For the money, you get a ton of value, but the car does leave some things on the table that similar (yet higher-priced) competitors have, such as xenon headlights in the Mazdaspeed3, heated side-view mirros and washer nozzles (which in a cold climate are a must) and even vanity mirrors with lights.
