Nice

I drive 100 miles round trip for work daily. I down sized because of gas prices. I was worried going from a full size truck, but the civic is really comfortable. I was ready to by the elantra limited after reading reviews, but after the test drive...NO way. It felt cheap and unrefined. I test drove the civic exl twice, what a ride. This is my first Honda and will be pleased if reliability is good. After one week I average 38+ mpg with about 90% highway driving. I gave a 4 for performance because I'm used to more power, but hey it's an economy car. I really like the one touch sunroof and blue tooth. Highly recommend.

Excellent car

The best car I have ever owned. The car is very reliable and efficient. Steering and handling are great. Do not be fooled by other car makers who provide more features or horse power. If you are going to buy a car and keep it what matters for you is reliability and resale value. The interior is really nice and roomy enough for me. The exterior is not too loud in style and design. The engine is responsive. I like Honda's new Imed system. It feels like you are driving a computer. Definately much better then my previous Nissan, ford and chevy. My previous nissan had all the nice features but lacked reliability. Chevy was the worst so far. Ford are now okay but they don't last as long.

BEST CIVIC YET

I was fortunate enough to actually find an EX-L in Charcoal grey. Fully loaded. This car has one of the smoothest rides, most comfortable seating, and a cockpit that has everything at your fingertips. Honda designers hit a gramd slam on this ine. This is the best civic yet. Average 40-46 mpg on highway, and 35-40 around town using the Econ button. I would highly recommend this car to family and friends. The fit and finish is impeccable, and the quietest rides of any I have driven in its class.

not for long trips

I love almost everything about the Civic, but the arm rest is too low so you can't really use it and the seat is very narrow. The sides of of the seat angle out and upwards putting a lot of pressure in one area on the sides of your legs and putting pressure on hip bone. This will probably not be a problem for smaller people, but for an adult male or size 16 or larger woman it is a fairly serious discomfort. I am hoping it will break in over time. The wind shield that automatically pops up in the moon roof is a real nice feature. The dash board is very attractive, but at certain times of the day when the sun is hitting it a certain way it looks like the glass (plastic) is frosted. Adjusting the brightness does not help much. The cool colors are easy on the eye, but research has shown that blue and green dash board lights make people sleepy. I have not found this to be a problem. USB port and two power points allows you to both use your MP3 player, charge, and charge a phone all at the same time with is very handy and one of my favorite features.

2012 Civic needs more value added

Recently had the chance to test drive a Civic LX automatic (2012). Vehicle has a pleasant ride, absorbs bumps and washboard roads well. Noise levels are a little more hushed than previous generation. Turning radius very good. Controls are intuitive. Very nice displays and visibility looking outside is very good. The LX is one trim level up from the base DX. So, you get the radio/CD and air conditioning with this version. However, compared to other competitors in this category, it is still 'de-contented.' Engine and transaxle is a carryover from previous generation. No variable intermittent wipers; fixed interval instead. No outside temperature gauge. No bluetooth capability. No outside heated mirrors at this trim level either. Interesting to note that the LX version made for the Canadian market includes outside heated mirrors, and they include bluetooth for your phone. No outside temperature gauge for either country until you head up to the EX trim level. One other note...while VW Golf and Chevy Cruze include height adjustable seats for BOTH driver and passenger, Civic does not offer that. But nor does the other guys, such as Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra. With the competition ratcheting up the pressure on Honda, I was a bit disappointed to see Honda fail at adding some additional content to the vehicle for the money they are demanding. Guess the only thing Honda has going for it is that depreciation and resale values will remain strong. That should translate to low monthly payments for leases, right? Wrong...I was told leasing this vehicle would be a minimum of $250./month...and some money down is expected. That would be odd considering the strong residual values on the Civic. If it were allowed, I'd buy the Canadian market version of this vehicle.

Love My New 2012 Honda Civic

My wife and I went to the local dealer the day the new Civics went on display. However, they did not have the LX model we wanted. The next day, we visited a nearby dealer and they had exactly what we wanted. We traded our 2009 Honda and drove the new one home. The car now has 1,400 miles on it and we went to Myrtle Beach last week and using the Econ mode, we averaged 44.35 mpg!!! We are thrilled with the comfort, design, features, and the excellent gas mileage [we average 35 mpg around town driving]. They are now in short supply and we feel blessed that we were able to buy one and are 100 percent satisified with it---especially with the high gas prices.

For the large in size.....It works!!!

I am 6'0 and 360 pounds. I am a traveling nurse and drive many miles a week. Comfort is important as well as good fuel efficiency. Two difficult qualities to reconcile. Honda has done it. I also own a 2011 civic and it is difficult for me to get in and out of usually rubbing either my right shoulder or my posterior end on the rubber door trim causing it to wear out and rip over time. The new 2012 does not have this problem. They have made the opening better in the right places. There feels like much more room in the driver position. More room between me and the dash. I can enter and exit the vehicle which I do all day long many times without problems. It is quieter, able to use built in blue tooth without problem. Is the older model more fun to drive? Perhaps. It has the sportier feeling and cool racing steering wheel. But this 2012 is much more comfortable. I have the ex-l. I drive all day without back pain. There is no lumbar support but not needed with these seats. They hold you in in all the right places. The awful parking brake has been replaced so as not to rub on the right side of the leg. The door panels are skinnier giving more room for the left leg. Over all it feels classier. Like being in an accord. I was greatly dissapointed the forst week as it felt sluggish and the cruise would lose 5 mph when going up hills. I de-selceted the green econ button and it then was just as peppy as the older version. And I am getting as advertised mpg. 32-33 around town combined hwy and city. Got 37 mpg when I drove 75% hwy. The style may be a bit uglier and not as "fun" but for all the increased benefits of more room and efficiency I don't care. Honda has achieved perfection in my book. One thing they need to change.....Start including xm sat, blue tooth, more power outlets, etc. in base model like Hyundai. I hate having to pay for sunroof etc. to get these features. Blue tooth should be standard on all cars for safety hands free driving. Come on Honda, you may be left behind if you don't start adding these. Hyundai is not going away.

Great Car

Just picked my EX-L up April 22. Great little car. Nice leather interior, Nav system very intuitive. Imidi display is great, don't have to take eyes off the road. Got 46 mpg on trip back from Columbus, OH driving 65mph in econ mode. Very quiet for a small car, good handling even in high winds. Avg 38mpg on fiest tank. Wow!

Best car out there!

I have only owns my brand new 2012 Honda Civic EX sedan for a few days and I am already in love. I selected a gorgeous titanium color with a luxurious beige cloth interior. I get compliments everywhere I go. The fit and finish is by far the greatest of any car in this class and I looked at everything out there. The Civic is extremely powerful and has a very compliant ride while handling like a dream. I would never speak ill of another person's car but I do think that I have selected the perfect small vehicle on the market today. My favorite features include the high tech but easy to read speedometer and other pertinent gages, heated seats and door mirrors and a host of safety features not found in any other compact car. I looked at a Honda with leather seats but I actually love the design of the high class cloth seats standard on the EX model. The standard sunroof has a 1 touch feature for either slide open or tilt upward vent style. This new car also seems far roomier than all other. vehicles in its class. I urge anyone looking for a compact or mid size car to look at the new 2012 Honda Civic. It was well worth the wait.

Best in class once again

We just took deliver of our 15th Honda product! A shinny new 2012 Civic EX-L sedan w/ Navi. It is a delight. Stylish, feisty, built as solid as a bank vault and comfy like that of a luxury sedan costing more than double. The interior is roomy. All materials are flawless, soft to the touch and as with all Honda's, switches are simple and straight forward. The ride is very smooth and it handles perfectly. The seats provide great support and are extremely comfortable. The rear floor is flat, allowing for six good sized adults to ride in back without compromising room or comfort. The navigation system is the best in the industry. The new stereo system is symphony sounding. Bluetooth and other features found on far more expensive cars are nothing sort of perfect, as are the climate controls, information center and both traction and stability controls. We love our new addition and have not found a single flaw whatsoever. Gas mileage has hit up to 38 MPG on express ways and it is still being broken in.
