I purchased a used 05 S2000 in light blue metallic with 44k on the odometer. I was highly skeptical of the stats and the deal that this opportunity offered before driving it. Engine: All the critics are spot on. It behaves like Honda Civic below 3000 rpm in any gear, and after that, like a true sports car. The engine has a great note, pulls strongly when the VTEC variable valve timing system kicks in after 3000rpm until the redline at 8000. In aggressive driving, expect no more than 20mpg overall. In relaxed driving or mostly freeway speeds (70ish cruising) 25mpg is very possible and achievable. Transmission: 6speed manual with close ratio and short throws. This model is known to have some transmission problems if it's been beaten to a pulp or extremely high mileage. So far so good at 49k - I would say into the 120-140k range would be a good guess at replacement if driven hard all the time. The car would make a great weekend track race car. The convertible soft top is decently quiet - I'm hoping to spring for the aftermarket hardtop for about a grand and a half. The brakes are excellent with little fade and stop straight. Tires can be pricey for this model - I'd really invest in a good set known to work well on this model - they go through their use in about 15,000 tops even driving conservatively. This car is not for novice sports car drivers (*teenagers*) or those who don't know the limits of a performance vehicle without electronic aids like stability control or torque vectoring--the rear end is very easy to cut loose at low speeds while downshifting to get more torque in a lower gear, given the right kind of steering wheel input. The s2000 is not a car for beginners. I'd absolutely recommend this car to anyone who needs a reliable, exciting, outstanding used sports car provided they can operate the 6speed manual very well and know how to maneuver a very light rear drive front/mid engine sports car with a high redline and a distinct driving personality.

The 2005 S2000 is the very best year of S2000 one could ever own. In this model year's upgraded rear suspension pick up points tune the rear geometry and bump steer to a managable level of oversteer, also aided by the wider 245 rear tires. This year is the second for such improvements which also include 17" wheels and the F22 2.2 litre engine which does perform better than the previous 2.0 litre engine dispite the drop in red line from 9000 RPM to 8000 RPM. The car is supreemly comfortable for a low, stiff, sports car with firm, supportive seats. I drove this car from Palm Beach to Pittsburg and back with no more than a bite to eat or two on the way to and from. My back was never sore. This is the last model year before Honda instituted the dreaded drive by wire system and also traction control beyond the ABS. For a driver, drive by wire has no place in a sports car. My only gripes about this car is the lack of a propper removeable cover for the top in the lowered position and the soft clutch. The provided cover succeds in protecting the top from wind at high speeds but is difficult to install and flaps in the wind alittle. They sould have hired somone from Benz to figure that one out. The clutch is probably good for a woman wearing heels but leaves somthing to be desired. It resembles the E46 BMW with the metering valves in the clutch line to aid in a smooth release but such hardware on the s2000 is unverified. There is always somthing to find unsatisfactory in experiencing a new car but that is not to detract from my review title that the 2005 Honda S2000 is the untimate roadster.

This is an out and out sports car, handles brilliantly, comfortable over long distance, first drive from CA to AZ 250 miles with roof off all the way great fun. Strong Vtec power, if you want bling and soft handling this is not for you however if you want to drive a focused precise sports car this is the one. Typical Honda build quality, reminds me of a superbike to drive, pay attention when the Vtec power kicks in, things happen fast. Best car I've ever owned will be keeping this for ever.

The S2000 has to be the most driving & driver-centric vehicle mass production vehicle made. Honda did there homework and mated a brilliant chassis to an extraordinary engine and drivetrain to create a brilliant modern take on the classical open-air sportscar. The high tech world of the engine and chassis take a delightfully simple turn once you reach the cabin, devoid of almost anything to distract from the classic driving experience (no traction control, vehicle stability, automatic transmission, gps, auto climate, or heated seats here). It's all the better for it. All AC and Stereo controls are literally a half finger distance and can be modulated without looking or taking a hand off the wheel. The driving experience, on the right road in the right weather is simply stunning. A decently sized trunk doesn't mean this is a one-trick pony, but the same things that make it so great make it ideally suited as a second vehicle.

No words to explain how amazing is this Honda S2000. Power, comfort, styling and design comes together in this beautiful car. It`s not just a car. it`s LOVE. When you drive it, you understand, there is nothing in the world that makes you feel happy like S2000 does. If you ask me Nissan 350Z or Mazda RX8, Even BMW AND Mercedes Benz , I will always say S2000. Its just amazing to have one of them. If you have one them guys. You know what the car is.

Great car. As much fun as you can have without the inherent danger of a sport bike. Revs like a V-twin sport bike, but does not bog at low rpm. Think Accord at low revs, Ferrari above 6000. Great value compared to TT, Z4, Boxster, 911. Impresses by design and performance instead of brand cache.
