I traded in my 2000 Elantra with 175,000 miles on it for a new one with 10. The 2000 was a good reliable car. The new one so far with only 1,000 miles is a delight! I am 6'3" and 240lbs, and this is the first car I have owned that I don't have to put the seat all the way back. Plus there is ample head room as well. The car rides like a large car, and the part I like the most is 38 mpg. on the first tank! I drive 33 miles to work and it is mostly rural with little stop and go till the last 5 miles. My third tank is getting 40.1 mpg. and I don't use the stupid "ECO" mode because I don't like how the car performs with the ECO button pushed. To each his own on that. I like the way the interior is laid out with easy access to all the controls. The sound system is good but not great. Only negative is the vision, which of course you are going to lose with the more aerodynamic design, but you get used to it soon. I got the Bronze color which really looks sharp. I have not driven the competitors in this class, but I can't imagine a better ride and gas mileage for the price. Nice job Hyundai!

I purchased a new 2013 elantra limited. the vin started w/5 so im sorry to say that it was made in the usa. I love the body style and the claimed mpg, that's what lead me to test drive this car. the test drive felt good except the ride was a slightly rough or choppy but I thought I could live with it since I really liked the body style. after driving the car about 500 miles I noticed the front end making knocking sounds while going over bumps in the road around 20-25 mph. I also noticed the headliner rattling (I have the sunroof). I also noticed a slight rough idle occasionally. I took the car in to get looked at and was told there is a bulletin on the front end but no fix yet and they couldn't recreate the problem on any of my concerns. since then I have taken the car in 3 more times and not one thing has been fixed. Hyundai corporation is no help either. I have also had problems with the bluetooth ocasionally not connecting with my phone when I enter the car and surprise, they wont do anything about that either. to top it off I travel about 95% hwy miles and I average about 31 mpg, no where near the 38 claimed. to be fair it is winter but I don't have much faith there will be a huge change. at least the problems I have are not mechanical and the car always starts and gets me where I need to go. just a warning, if your interested in this car take it on a very long test drive over multiple road conditions before you buy. road noise can be very loud over some surfaces. pay close attention to suspension noises no matter how slight, once you hear them your senses will focus on them and will drive you crazy. For a car that stickered for 25k I expected much more.

Bought this car in 2012 handles very well great pick up and performance for a 1.8L. Descent gas mileage 29-30mpg city if I don't launch it to hard otherwise about 27mpg. Haven't had it out on the highway much but from what experience I've had anywhere from 37-42mpg. Interior is very nice and clean lines even inside. This is one car that can't be beat.

Hyundai started selling stylish cars with lots of bells and whstles for less money than its competitors about 3 years ago when it brought out the restyled Sonata -- which I bought and loved.. The Elantra was re-styled for 2013 and looks and feels almost exactly like its larger brother. It drives smootly, has adequate headroom for a 6-foot-tall driver, a roomy cabin and big trunk for a compact car. It is slightly lighter than the Sonata so it is not quite as solid feeling on the road but it gets great gas mileage, has a 100,000 mile warranty and the little extras such as the voice-activated (hands-free) Bluetooth cell phone system which allows you to make and take phone calls without your eyes leaving the road.

From the unique exterior to the roomy interior this was the perfect choice for my family. The fact this car won the north american car of the year last year made me interested, but when I saw it I was hooked. I purchased the gls with upgraded package for the eco boost system. This package also includes many of the features of the limited models. I have to say with all of the warranty provided I couldn't have made a wiser choice.

I did a review of this car That I bought late sept. 2013.. in Oct. 2013 and wanted to do an update. In early Dec. 2013 I was driving down the freeway and a huge semi truck hit me on the right rear driver's side which caused me to spin out and lose control. I was then hit again by this semi and spun out once again into the cement median in the middle of the freeway. He was ok and I was ok, just badly shaken! When the cops arrived they did all the normal routine stuff but what shocked me the most is they said my car was still driveable! So I drove my car off the freeway to get the rest of the info taken care of. As I surveyed the damage, it was very banged up on the driver's side front bumper, entire drivers side, and drivers rear bumper was ripped apart. The thing that amazed me was no glass was broken(windows) and the airbags never deployed. (in my case it was fine due the fact I was fine.) Sometimes the airbags can cause more injury in certain circumstances(I work in healthcare). I also did talk to hyundai about this just to inform them. Anyways, I was able to drive the car from the accident site. I had it towed to a body shop (towing was free) and they informed me that the car was totaled. So now I am working on getting another. I felt completely safe and I...just slight neck pain which went away in 2 days. This is a good car! I cannot wait to get the exact replica of it in a few days! It saved my life. Not a scratch on me! :)

Great car for what it is

If you are looking for a very affordable new car with great gas mileage, a nice exterior design and comfortable ride you can't go wrong with an Elantra. One of the best in its class.

Hyundai has a winner not just with the Elantra but with all of their vehicles. They are just making very, very good cars now. I was initially looking for a high mpg used car but found the prices to be way over-inflated. The Elantra was exactly what I was looking for (less than $20K with 35+mpg). Have had the car for a week and like it more every time I drive it. Especially now that I am creeping up on 37mpg with 75/25 hwy/city driving. The car looks sporty and is very comfortable for us taller drivers. All of the extras you get with the base model are fantastic and should be a source of angst for Honda and Toyota.

I bought my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited on July 24th, and have loved it ever since. This car drives great, and you can't beat the price for all the options you get. I think it is a much nicer looking car interior and exterior wise compared to other cars in its class. I get about 28 MPG City, and right around 40 for highway. Only cons I can think of are that I wish it had more horsepower and a quieter ride. Needless to say, I love my Elantra and if I had to do it all over again I would!
