They Jeep is the toughest vehicle that I ever owned. My daughter had a accident roll over in one without a scratch. My wife was rear-ended, the other car was heavily damaged, the Jeep had on damage(the spare tire absorbed the impact) It is powerful enough in town, but the mileage is poor. Tough as nails.

Drove this rig for 10 years and 150,000 miles through every terrain one can imagine. Handles well in snow, mud, rain, sand, rocks, etc. yet handles comfortably at 85+mph on the freeway. Interior materials hold up very well and very low maintenance / repairs. Only downside is small interior and poor fuel economy (15-16 mpg)

Loved this car until I had the transmission rebuilt at 22K miles, and now at 26K miles the transmission is slipping. The dealership won't even offer me a loaner car for the trouble, decided I will just trade it in and stay away from chryler products. Otherwise it was a great car, one child fit well and VERY fun to drive. Cheap tires kept getting flats.

The jeep was great at first but after having it for 6 months everything went wrong we had to replace transfer case and transmission. I have had it for almost 3 years now and I am ready for it to go we keep having problems with the transmission it is not a family car that's for sure it is very uncomfortable. To me its more of a car for a teenager that doesn't need a lot of room in a suv as long as it is in good shape.

The visibility is outstanding. A great SUV in town and on the road. I had over 100,000 miles on a Wrangler before this 05 Liberty. I still have an 03 Liberty. Besides needing a storage platform over the two vents, and a little more power, I don't see a wiser way for miles per dollar. The resale factor is a bonus feature.

I bought my 2005 Liberty 4X2, V6, Auto just 18 months ago. I got $2000 cash back which paid my sales tax and licensing. I also got zero% interest. So I financed roughly $22K. MPG averages 19mpg. I went in for a new caliber and the dealer offered me $9000. THats 65% depreciation in 18 months. I can get an 06 for $16K on sale. Although the V6 is super peppy, 5K lbs limits towing to small trailers, no toy boxes. The seat material stains with water, and is uncomfortable over 200 mile drives. I have had zero problems, but the proven V6 is used on many vehicles along with standard 5 speed auto trans and 10.25" chrysler rear axle I can re-gear from 3.73 to 3.09 for $900 which should increase mpg by 3-4mpg. If you like this vehicle you can get them used with low miles for less than $15K, even the 4X4. Many Jeep owners not many problems with the MBZ diesel CRD and it si being discontinued.
