Best SUV Ever
I have so much fun with this vehicle. I drive it everywhere in the city and on the trails. I did have an engine replaced at 27k miles but it was all covered under warranty. 50k miles later and no problems ever. If you take moderate care of them it will take care of you. Some people got bad ones but my Freelander Rocks. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.

DO NOT BUY
This car is terrible. If you are thinking of buying a Freelander, do your homework. A Web search will reveal all you need to know about coolant leaks, transmission problems, and engine replacements. I had a 2004 Freelander, it spent as much time in the shop as it did on the road. I traded it in as soon as the warrantee ran out.

Love my freelander
I was looking for a car that would go anywhere and found it in my Freelander. With no special chains or snow tires, I was one of only a small handful of cars driving comfortably through a record snowy Portland winter last year.

review
the best low-price car i ever had. Very economic, the best comfort, leather, cd-fm, am. Goog performance for a v6, The interior is made very wisely. A lot of space. This is a good car for off road or road. this car look like is old brothers like the LR3 and the Land Rover discovery.

Awful experience
If you are considering buying one of these: DON'T! I had mine for a year. What a money pit. Transmission issues, electrical issues, had to replace the intake manifold ($1400.00). Thank goodness I was able to trade it in. Most lots laughed when I offered to trade it. I will never buy a Land Rover anything again.

Biggest rip-off for the money
If you want a headache, then buy a Land Rover Freelander. If you want to live in the service department, buy a Freelander. If you want to purchase an SUV that you will have to rebuild shortly after you purchase it, then yes, buy a Freelander. Hey there is nothing wrong with replacing, heating fans, speakers, sunroof control, wires and some other things a few times, hey there is surely nothing wrong with putting in a NEW TRANSMISSION, having the car towed at lease 2 times. Nothing wrong with not being able to put the SUV in gear (you know PARK) or surely nothing wrong with not being able to start the car. (Lets see, have transmission put in on Monday, pick it up on Thursday evening, back at shop on Friday (cant put in park) get car back on Friday evening, go on vacation, come back start car, move car, come back later to move car, wont start, have car towed on Monday). So dont for get these are warranty items so there will be no charge to you, but lets talk what you do have to pay for. Oil change once a year over $225.00 and dont forget the brakes that have to be changed every year along with the rotors so this too is over $250.00 and dont forget that even after the brakes are done, YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS with the brakes. So if you want a reliabe car, dont buy a FREELANDER, if you want good performance, dont buy a FREELANDER

biggest piece of junk i've ever owned
One electrical problem after another...good thing for warranty or i would be broke! It is comfortable driving and has great handling though...the rear window wiper button is in the wrong place as are the cupholders.
