Since the 2002 redesign of this vehicle, i was very interested in purchasing one. I decided to limit my choices to a 2005 or up because of the updated interior, and a V6 because i like the extra power. i was hoping to purchase an SE because the wheels are much more attractive, but ended up buying a 3.5 SL. As far as styling goes, this is a very attractive car. My SL was equipped with a rear spoiler and side spoilers, the only way i would buy a car..As far as comfort goes, the seats are comfortable. The view is good. The layout of the dash and all the radio and climate controls are placed very thoughtfully. The steering wheel controls are also a convenient feature. My SL was also equipped with HID headlights, which... truly make a huge difference for night driving. The BOSE system is one of the best i have ever heard, and the sound quality blows me away every time i hear it. I really like being able to roll the front windows down using the remote, very convenient on a hot day. The backseat is plenty roomy. As far as performance goes... I can't even begin to describe the satisfying feeling of driving this car. The V6 and auto trans work beautifully smooth together. For merging and passing, you get the feeling that you could pass anything no matter how fast your going. It doesn't hold corners like a 350Z, but is still satisfactory. I drove my friends 4 cylinder Altima and was surprised with the 4 cylinder power, which would suffice for most drivers. My V6 got great gas mileage, even with my lead foot. The V6 does REQUIRE premium fuel, but thats a small price to pay for the refined powertrain and great gas mileage. As far as reliability, i never had a single problem during ownership. I felt the craftsmanship and materials used were of high quality, as good as my current Lexus RX. My only complaint was the winter driving, even equipped with traction control. I assume the problem could easily be solved with the purchase of some winter tires. Overall, if you are in the market for a sedan, the Altima definitely deserves a look and I would absolutely recommend it. It spans the needs of many different drivers, from an everyday driver to someone who wants a performance oriented sedan.

Most Reliable Car, except one problem

I own a 2005 (purchased new) Altima SL it has over 161,000 miles on it.. I would have recommended this car, except it has one major problem; the passenger side floor panel has rusted completely through. There are a lot of complaints about this, and the Nissan Corporation will not repair this. There are people who are complaining the driver side as well as the passenger side panels has completely rusted through. This has nothing to do with the climate. It is leaking from the inside of the car, not the outside. The underbody has been rust proof. I would NOT buy another Nissan vehicle, new or used. If you don't believe me, just google "rusted floor panels Nissan Altimas" If you know someone who owns this vehicle, tell them to check the underbody.

Bought the 6 cyl. This car takes off! Never replaced anything on it but a fuse and I have 130,000 mi. on it. Love my car so much I'll drive it till it blows. So inpressed that I can't see myself driving any other make of vehicle again. Love the chrome touches on the interior. It's a sharp car. Compliments stating that it looks "like a luxury car". Performance is outstanding! Takes corners like a pro. Does well in snow. Awesome, reliable & dependable!

Had this car for three years and the only thing I could complain about was the payment (was set to a 72 month plan). Don't be fooled: Foreign cars will cost you, but well worth it. In the first 6 months, I replaced the spark plugs and wires, sensors, battery, serpentine belt and a coil or two--total over $500. (The previous owner, I came to learn, was an elderly woman who never did more than change the oil--still had all of its factory parts). Regular maintenance will keep the car running like new, even when over 125K miles. Handles rough terrains like it's nothing (e.g. winding hills and back roads in Kentucky) and loved the ABS brakes. Just moved from the mainland and while I had the vehicle ready to be transported, I later gave it to a family member who had trouble financing a car of their own...

Bought 1993 Altima and was a great. This one has had quite few problems. The biggest one being the floor board rusting through on the passenger side under the front seat. When viewing other Reviews i see there are other people with the same problem. I called a dealer and they also said they have had several Altima's with the same issue. Yet i still see nissan is not willing to fix the issue. Well needless to say i WON'T be buying another.

This car was passed onto me as my first car. I drove it for almost 2 years and put about 30,000 miles on it in that time. During my experience, I fell in love with the vehicle. It is only 4 cylinder, but it drives more like a V6. The handling is great, and the gas mileage was decent. Due to my formerly agressive acceleration, lack of care (as a 16 year old boy), and a few abnormally large potholes, the car did require a few repairs on things such as the brakes, suspension, and minor protective plating. Otherwise, this was a great first car and I will miss her dearly.
