When I was in the market for a new car, I looked at a lot of different styles/types of cars. Chevrolet HHR, Saturn Vue, Dodge Nitro, etc. The Scion xB was also on my list, but I was a little skeptical. However, once I sat in one, and took a test drive, I was hooked. I bought it the next day (for a very good price), and couldn't be happier with what I have. With the 2008, you are not getting the original box or 'toaster' exterior. This is a little more sleek, but still has it's own unique flair. It looks small from the outside, but the inside is as roomy as can be. I am a bigger guy at 6'1", 230, and this car fits me great. Plenty of room for the wife and son as well. The storage area is a little small than excepted, but still has enough room to get everything back from a large shopping trip. It is the small things in this car that really me put me over the edge. There is an iPod hookup, and if you have an older version iPod, you can control your music through your stereo, or the controls mounted on the steering wheel. This is WONDERFUL for long trips, on even just on the commute home. Note that this does not work for iPhones or newer iPods. You can still play the music through your speakers, but to change songs, you have to use the device. The sound system is great. It has built in XM radio. It comes with tie-downs in the back, which make for easier storage. Also, There is storage under the back seat, which is good for first aid kits/ chains, etc. Again, the small things. Overall, I love this car, and anyone that has ridden in it, even is they were skeptical at first, loves it. I would recommend this to anyone. Give it a try!

I bought a 2008 used with 28000 mi on it. I noticed a little road noise so I change the orig Good Year tires to Mich Premacy MXV4 tires rated for ride comfort and handling and fuel saving, warranty is 60k mi. Not cheap $720. installed, But what a diff! It rides sooo smooth and handles like a dream! A lot of people do not realiaze how great tires impact a cars ride, handling, and performance, and fuel econ! Trust me on this, buy a high end tire, spend the money. A lot of tire mfg have a web site were they rec a certain tire for a certain auto, trust them on their recom! I love the XB. I put a Curt trailer hitch on, and it pulls my 5X10 open trailer With my Goldwing on it! To our vacation home, I get 27 city, 32-35 Hwy. Depending how fast I go 65-85, The MPG without a trailer of course. This 2.4ltr 4 cyl is the same engine as my wifes Camry Solara. GREAT ENGINE!!! GREAT CAR!!!

Good Toyota build quality should prove reliable

I Wouldn't Drive Anything Else!

So I was torn between the xD and the xB because I've always wanted a Scion xB since they first came out. I test drove both and decided to go with the xB because of its performance and size. My xB came with the upgraded stereo, dvd players and other little nifty light up Scion logos. I love my stereo. I am an iPod and music fanatic so it is perfect for me. I can hook up my iPod so that I control it through my head unit and steering wheel controls or through the headphone jack and control the music with just the iPod. I like having options so this was really neat for me. The sound is amazing. Very clear highs (thanks to the two tweeters) and great sounding bass! I was also surprised by the performance of the vehicle. It is quite quick which is very good for merging. Be advised though, this has an effect on your gas mileage. Compared to the xD and the previous model xB the gas mileage is not so good. If this is a problem for you the car has a feature that will tell you how much MPG you are getting constantly as you drive, which allows you to learn more fuel efficient driving techniques. The standard features like the stereo, cruise control, power doors and windows (all 4 windows, unlike my old Neon!) and keyless entry are always nice. Also the fact that I'm 6'5 and I don't even need to have the seat back all the way is great! Even sitting straight up I don't come anywhere near hitting my head. It has massive amounts of cargo space with the fold down back seats. It's also a great Mini-Van substitute for Dads who don't wanna look like a complete dork. I can fit myself and 4 of my adult friends for road trips and have everyone be quite comfy! To sum up, like the title says, I wouldn't drive anything else. I plan to keep this vehicle until it dies (which could be a long time since it's a Toyota) or until Scion puts out something cooler, which is also quite likely. Last thing: Be sure to shop around, even if it's just on this site, because I checked this site every day or two for a few weeks and found one with very low mileage for 1K less than every other dealership. Don't settle for a high mileage xD if you don't have to!

Well, after 22 years of owning various minivans, it was time to leave that world behind. We still needed a vehicle with some cargo space to transport older children, suitcases, and sporting equipment; we just didn't need a car the size of a minivan any longer. I spent three months researching cars as well as seeking out deals. I finally found a 2008 Scion XB, manual transmission, with about 24000 miles on it. I purchased the car in August of 2010 and so far, so good. I love the get up and go, the handling is amazing, the turning radius is tight, and the gas mileage is roughly 23/city and 28/highway. We have taken a number of trips and our luggage and equipment fits easily into the back of the vehicle using the 60/40 split seat. My son is 6'2" and has no problem fitting into the car; in fact, I was shocked by the amount of interior space the first time I sat in the car. We are so enjoying driving again; I am very happy with the Scion and would highly recommend the car.

I purchased this Scion Xb used one owner it runs great, mileage is great and very comfortable. I am so very happy with the Xb and would recommend this vehicle to everyone. It is easy to drive has plenty of power, Parking is easy, and as for responce I give it a A+. In So.Cal. the freeways are tricky and with the Xb I have no trouble getting on and keeping pace with the traffic. The car rides smooth and is very fuel wise, features are fantastic, Radio system is great, all controls are easy to reach and well lit up at night. All in all the 08 Scion Xb is a fun car to drive and looks way better then the previous years with less windows it has a sleek and modern look to it, very roomy in the front seats and rear, The rear seat fold down to provide more then enought room for what ever you need to carry. Great car for family or single persons.

My wife uses this car mostly to drive to work and such. I use it occasionally. We had the '05, but after it was totaled we bought the new one. We've got 66K miles on it already. the '05 got much better mileage, but the newer version is bigger: inside and out. I could live without the 2.3L engine, but it is fun going up hills and passing everyone. My only complaint would be the driving comfort. It's a little bumpy; but then it is a small car right? We get 24-26mpg with a mixture of city and hiway driving. We sometimes put 3 kids across the back seat, but I would hate to try it with adults. The passenger seat has no arm rest, and the one for the driver isn't anything to get excited about. The little bit of padding in it soom wears out and you don't hardly use it. The resale value is incredible. If you can even find a used one, they are not that much cheaper than a new one unless it's been wrecked or has a lot of miles on it. A bigger gas tank would be nice. The 12 gallon tank doesn't go very far: maybe 300 miles. We end up fueling 3-4 times a week as we put 700-800 miles a week minimum on this car. Hope this helps.

This a great vehicle. It has plenty of power, enormous interior space, Love it or Hate it styling, a great price, just about every option you could want as a family / commuter car. Mine is a 5 spd and mileage has averaged 27-29 which is much better than reported. I-Pod/ Aux input interface rocks! Downsides: Still don't really like the center mounted gauges Clutch take-up and and brake pedal orientation is odd. I have been driving standard for 30 years and have stalled this vehicle more in 2 years than all the other cars before! I'm looking now to buy another one!

I must admit that I am not a fan of the 1st generation Scion Xb. The 2nd gen Xb has changed my thinking about Toyota's lunch box-gen x cult car. I needed a reliable, practical and affordable family car and my 2008 Scion Xb has all bases well covered. When shopping around, my options were boiled down to: Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, Matrix or Corolla, Suzuki Sx4, Honda Fit and Civic. When you compare numbers The Xb trumps all class competitors with class leading power, interior volume, standard appointments and best overall value. Honestly, style took a back seat to functionality when I made up my mind on the Xb, however the "box" has grown on me and I get lots of compliments. Inside the Xb theres plenty of room for my 6'1" frame in both the front and back seats. I loaded My Girlfriend, 2 children, My Pit Bull Petey and 3 days worth of camping gear - drove 500 miles round trip without complaint or worry. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. There are only minor quirks to complain about: The center gauge stack still takes some getting used to, the doors "slam" a little violently when windows are open, "J" style auto-shift gate isn't very intuitive and road noise came be a little boomy at times (probably due to somewhat stiff suspension). Dislikes are few, especially when considering what I get for 16k sticker price. * On a side note, reliability was obviously paramount which is why I primarily stuck with Japanese brands. I've owned and worked on many makes and models, its just hard to beat the Japanese in the subcompact market-speaking from my own experience.
